Our enemies - anti-Shibusen forces, kishin eggs and witches alike - are not picky with their targets.

Learning self-defense is not equivalent to becoming a soldier. I'm not making your choice for you; I am simply offering a suggestion, a precaution if you will, if you wish to stay alive when the war comes knocking at your door, whether you expected it or not.

[ Yeah, the bandages speak volumes about what the others have been through. Things got dangerous and went south for them. Fortunately, they would recover, but in the meantime... Sitting, with the clipboard propped up a bit, she offers a little nod. ]

Thank you. [ A polite pause. ] I presume you've already been informed that I will temporarily be acting liaison between the Watch and the Detective Agency while Genesis is recovering?

[ Because she's tryin' to make sure everybody's on the same page and she knows what everyone expects her to do so she can do it without issue. ]

Yes. Genesis informed me of that; for that, I am likewise grateful.

[He nods; he would bow if he could get out of bed, but oh well.]

Things will be in good hands. Is there anything in particular I should be aware of? Though I am only vaguely familiar with the Detective Agency, I must admit. [ Because she's already promised details, lots of details to Genesis. She's going to be offering the same to Edgeworth. ]

How "vaguely familiar" would you say you are? What do you know so far?

Enough to know the goals and general purpose of the Agency as an information gathering organization for the betterment of Death City and its residents; or rather, investigators for hire. The operations that transpire behind closed doors are foreign to me, however.

We are also in charge of the city's surveillance system. Near, my co-head, installed these cameras months ago. Our operations concerning this system are confidential, however.

Many of the members are agents, which means they handle true investigation work. Alucard is an agent as well as a guard, and Ryou Bakura is our apprentice.

I see. And the confidential details are for good reason, no doubt. Given certain events, it's clear there are antagonistic forces who would love to have their hands in the operations.

Is Genesis himself also an agent, like them, or merely the liaison and nothing more? [ Gotta know how big the shoes are that she has to fill. ]

Indeed.

[And other antagonistic forces who would be happy with simply destroying the operations.]

Genesis is the liaison and nothing more; his job is, in part, a result of our partnership. When we became partners, Roy Mustang, the first Watch commander, saw an opportunity to bring both the Agency and the Watch together through a liaison.

[ A shake of her head. Enemies were never good. ]

And in his time of injury, paperwork and safe delivery of information still needs to take place between the two organizations. [ A nod. ] Easily done.

You are sure you can handle this on your own? I can appoint another agent to lend you a hand, if need be.

I appreciate the offer, but I assure you that I will have no difficulty performing the tasks necessary.
