7th Turn: Video | July 31th

[The video starts with an evil laugh and gleaming eyes in sinister shadows before Bakura leans forward with a grin that’s full of bared teeth. The evil spirit has spent the last days searching the city near and far for the souls of two certain multi-color-haired midgets just to return with his hands empty. He had went all the way to make sure that it was no fluke and now he had certainty of the result. Malicious killing intend is dancing in both his eyes and his voice, twisting them more away from his nice counterpart than ever as he intones a mocking chant.]

The king is dead, the king is dead, long live the king~! Isn’t that how it’s said? [He laughs derisively before he shakes his head with a haughty tsk.]

All those things, all those times …and now that! Having it end like that feels almost too easy! [His smile drops into a discontent frown that turns his eyes hard before he tsks again and shakes his head as he brushes whatever thought he had aside with a wave of his hand.

The expression he presents the network with again seconds later is that of a winner, amused and cruel. ] No more games, dear Death City, for the main actor’s dead and the rest of the story’s already settled! [He feels betrayed.]

Both the main actor and the secondary cast have been removed. [He'd wanted some more time.]

So I’m going to end the game-! [It should have been personal!!]

The only thing is.. What’s the gamemaster left to do once the game’s won and over? [The frown is back at those last words. For a moment Bakura seems honestly troubled, then he shakes his head again with a mumbled curse and ends the connection. Atem has been much more than just an enemy to him.

No amount of public gloating can replace killing him with his own hands.]

[Nanami is just staring into the mirror looking tired, she didn't really think this through when she turned on the video function. A couple of times it looks like she means to say something but she doesn't. After all the Pharaoh, or Atem meant completely different things to them.]

[It takes a while before Bakura finally replies and when he does all he has for her are a roll of his eyes and an annoyed scowl.]

If you have something to say then just say it.

[She closes her eyes for a moment breathing in deeply. When she opens them again her expression is more neutral and serious with an underlying coldness to it. She exhales looking at him directly.]

Are you up for a mission?

[feelsgoodinyou]

[He pretends not to notice any of those things as his expression softens ever so slightly, turning less manic spirit and more human again. For a fraction of a second something shines through and he looks cornered and aimless.]

A mission? Why?

[Because her apartment is empty again, because she needs to concentrate on something else, because she needs to take out some aggression on someone or something]

Because I need something to do. [close enough]

[feelsgoodinyou]

[That's simple and honest enough to make him shut up and consider the request for serious for a minute.]

I guess why not, as long as you make it quick.

What are you in the mood for? Bigfoot, deer ladies, lava monsters, red whales, whatever an Ogopogo is? [she's looking down at a list she's got on the table nothing really seems to be catching her interest] And why quick, do you have something better to do?

[He sighs again, sounding somewhat weary.]

First things first - an Ogopogo is a lake monster from Canada. Think Nessie, but with a more Natives background. I don't know much about it besides that it's most likely somehow related with the Igopogo and the Manipogo. That said, either that or the deer bitches. I don't feel like going to the sea right now and somebody else can go chase after over-sized apes and walking stoves.

[His second answer comes a bit delayed and is said a lot more low-key; a physical sign of how much he feels on edge inside.]

[she returns the sigh] Why do all of these missions have to take place in nature? Is it too much to ask for some Kishin Eggs to appear around busy cities where there might be good shopping, lodgings and restaurants?

[she poorly feigns being insulted] Really now, more important than killing things with me in hand?

There was one in that big city in India a while ago.

[He doesn't miss a beat.] Yeah.

[and YB just gets this look for a while she decides if she wants to hang up on him or not.]

[feelsgoodinyou]

[For a couple of breaths his expression is shit-eating and daring her to, but then a muscle beneath his skin twitches and worried shadows start to gather around his eyes.]

[she's doing her best to ignore his expressions, the easiest way is to close her eyes]

So it's between Deer Women in Oklahoma or British Columbia for the Loch Ness Monster.

[she tilts her head slowly left and right trying to decide which of these to choose]

Unless you have a preference perhaps we should just flip a coin.

Flip the coin, I don't have preferences for small fry.

[Unlike 'real' enemies like the Pharaoh. The thought of having nothing worse to worry about than your runabout kishin egg and BREWs whims weight dreary on his mind.]

Unless one has spoils that are significantly better than the others.

It's $1000 for the deer, $1100 for the other.

[She does have a coin at the ready now and is lightly tapping it on the table.]

Deer for tail. [That difference isn't worth it, especially if it has to be split.]

[She flips it.]

Ogopogo it is, then. Care to sign us up?

[morecowbell]

Yes. Shall I sign us up for a few days from now when your heart or whatever it is that is occupying that space is more in the game?

[feelsgoodinyou]

Tche! [He grins a little at her jibe, regaining a bit of his usual spirit.] The day I don't manage to deal with something of that level is the day I'll gladly retire myself!

That's more like it. How's the 3rd sound? That will give me time to deal with a couple things left behind.

Fine with me. Are they anything you might need help with?

[morecowbell]

[Nanami studies his face for a moment with a small smile] Unless you want a furry friend, I quite doubt it... or perhaps you want to search someone's room for treasure left behind?

[feelsgoodinyou]

A pet? [He pulls a face.] No thanks, I'm already having more than enough of that with that bastard Ryou. [Whom he still holds a minor grudge at. So much time and patience, just wasted with that one...]

And I think you seem to misunderstand the kind of thief I am.
