[The communicator clicks on to heavy breathing.

You'd be breathing heavily too, if you just spent the last few hours or so of your life, tearing apart your brother's apartment--and then your own out of sheer frustration. She knows what's happened, though, and for once, there's nothing she can do to change it.

There's no one she can kill that would change BREW's mind, and she's not even in the mood to celebrate the successful rescues.]

...Hey. Instead of whining every time someone's been sent home, has anyone ever figured out why BREW decides kick them to the curb?

[It doesn't seem right that it gets to throw people out like useless trash. Especially not someone like Snake.]

It's not like I've been doing all that much... [Aside from maybe some meaningless deliveries--only because no one else could be bothered to do them.] Why am I still here?

[She's just going to mope and generally be pouty and angry and miserable.

Even if you say that... [ "there might not be any reason," she thinks. But, regardless Clover seemed upset. Lucy ponders up a list of possibilities and only one really clicks together. Clover was with him last time, wasn't she? And it's not like Lucy was all too unfamiliar with these sorts of things. ]

[ Her voice is sincere and genuine. ] I'm sorry.

She's...apologizing. Something about that is kind of amazing, because it's so rare for people to actually have the guts to own up to what they did.

I think... it might not be that BREW sends them home... but home pulls them back. Like a tug of war, in a way.

[Clover doesn't realize she hasn't actually said "he" was missing.]

Un, I think he might be. [[Because if there's hope for him to come back... But he's not admitting to himself that anyone's gone yet, nope nope.]] It's happened before, I think. One of my friends here was even here at least once before hand.

In my experience... [ Her voice softens. ]

It's better not to be alone. [ Maybe a bit of an excuse and justification in one, but: ] Plus, we're friends, right? [ They've only talked once, but regardless, they must be at least that. To Lucy, at least. ... maybe Natsu really was rubbing off on her. ]

I don't usually have guests I can invite over... [ They usually just barge in through the balcony or a hole in the wal-- she stares back at the whole and faceplams momentarily before shaking it off. ] I mean, assuming you don't mind holes in the wall.

"Yet"? [...Heh!] You gotta wonder how long it'll take! I've gotten nothing so far.

[Answers-wise, she means. Yes, she bitter.]

[...Her first thought is to vaguely wonder why there are holes in her wall. But she doesn't really ask outright--that would imply that she cares or something and she can't be having that.

...She's had her day as a total recluse zombie though, and she's moved past that to irritated at the world; the entire city.

She's got to calm eventually...so after a moment of silence, she's asking something else. Sighing, almost monotone:]

Where do you live?

It is hardly like any of us know why we are here, hm? And if we knew, some of us, we would be trying to invalidate that reason, no?

[[Denial's quite a lovely place this time of year~

He smiles and gives a small nod]]

[Well they're technically here because of a war. But Clover was speaking more specifically, and she'll give him a benefit of the doubt and assume he was, too.]

And how might we go about doing that, when none of us have a clue?
