[ When idle, her mind would naturally wander to home and concerns or vague considerations revolving around Fiore of the guild, and today was no different. And, well, it’d be a lie to say she wasn’t mildly curious. Carefully, transferring the message over to text, she begins to type, a watchful finger for each key. ]

I’ve noticed that not many of you seem accustomed with the concept of a “guild,” but “magic” is different, right? Which brings me to my next question! ☆

What was magic like back in your world? Was it something commonplace? Reserved for certain types of people? I guess, you could say that I have time to spare and I’m really curious! I’ll be waiting for your replies--! ☆

[The communicator clicks on to heavy breathing.

You'd be breathing heavily too, if you just spent the last few hours or so of your life, tearing apart your brother's apartment--and then your own out of sheer frustration. She knows what's happened, though, and for once, there's nothing she can do to change it.

There's no one she can kill that would change BREW's mind, and she's not even in the mood to celebrate the successful rescues.
]

...Hey. Instead of whining every time someone's been sent home, has anyone ever figured out why BREW decides kick them to the curb?

[It doesn't seem right that it gets to throw people out like useless trash. Especially not someone like Snake.]

It's not like I've been doing all that much... [Aside from maybe some meaningless deliveries--only because no one else could be bothered to do them.] Why am I still here?

[She's just going to mope and generally be pouty and angry and miserable.

Whoops?

[He'd been keeping out of the way during the recent chaos for the most part, his strong sense of self-preservation leaving him disinclined to take up an active roll - that, and he may still have been sulking just a little over the results of a run-in with a certain detested someone while under the influence of the contaminated water - but that doesn't mean he hasn't been watching. On the contrary, he'd quite enjoyed witnessing the turmoil produced by recent events, and has been keeping a careful eye on the DEMISE network just to make certain he doesn't miss anything that might be useful to him, later.

But now all the chaos has died down and he's feeling a little bored, so he deems it time to re-engage with Death City society]

Ah well, that was certainly a baptism by fire! So much has happened, and all in the last ten days since my arrival. Witches and kidnappings and chaos in the streets, even potential serial killings on top of it all; enough to unnerve or at least unsettle most people, I would have thought. Is this the level of danger we'll be facing on a regular basis, I wonder? I'd been led to believe otherwise.

How many of you did the attacks convince to fight as we've been brought here to do? How many were dissuaded? I myself am still undecided.

The list of deaths and casualties was fairly high, so my condolences to anyone who's experienced a recent loss or disappearance. It's strange and perhaps a little disorientating to find ourselves in a situation like this, and that must be made significantly worse if the people you know - either those you've met since arriving here or those you might have known from home - are lost or threatened. Unless those people were ones you found threatening, I suppose, which is always a possibility.

Which leads me to another question! Have many people here chosen to locate partners amongst those they knew before coming to Death City? Or is it more common to pair off with those you've only just met? I suppose I'm feeling a little curious.

[ Peeling some of the bandages off his arms, he converses calmly with his device. It can't be helped. As he started the feed, he noticed that they were looking particularly soaked with pus and could not leave them stay to stagnate on his already diseased skin. ]

Mental stability is always lacking when the chaos of war strikes.

Do not feel any sort of ... [ He makes a few circles in the air with the new bandages. ] shame if you lost your head. [ So helpful. ]

[ The video feed once again begins with Katsura Kotarou being handcuffed to one Okita Sougo. But this time, they're both seated on the Shibusen stairs. Sougo wears a bored expression, his chin resting on his hand while he holds the communicator in the other one. ]

I thought we were finally getting into several new episodes, but it looks like we've fallen back into reruns again.

[ He doesn't even look at the communicator, eyes sweeping upward. ]

Blahblah, I'm Okita Sougo. Blahblah, vice commander of the Shinsengumi. Death City sun -- you'll be arrested for peeping. That about right?

[ His attention veers toward Katsura, looking for confirmation that he got the most basic details of this very recycled introduction. Katsura just sighs and nods to indicate that some minimum effort has been made; he's clearly just as bored as Sougo is and more annoyed since he's actually handcuffed.

Besides, the sooner they're done with this the sooner he gets released. However, there's just one detail... ]

Ah- if you're new to this, I would like to make a correction. I'm the one working with the police, not Okita-kun. Think of it as a pop quiz to identify who's in charge of the city's safety. [ He deliberately neglects to say why he's being arrested when it should be the other way around, choosing to look at Sougo instead. Sougo chooses to ignore him because there's not even a point in arguing this time. ]

Did Witchjikata die yet? I recommend a nice, traditional stake burning. We could even roast marshmallows over his corpse. It would be a family fun event in Death City.

And if we're roasting Hijikata-san, I would like to have some soba at the party.

[ Sougo thinks for a moment. ]
Actually, soba sounds pretty good right about now.

[ OOC: Red is Sougo. Blue is Katsura! ]

[The communicator turns on to reveal the face of a young woman, one who's clearly irritated with the device.  One of the most noticeable things about her would be her bright red hair.]  Okay, I think it's working.  [Clearing her throat, she continues.]

This is certainly a rather jarring transition.  One minute, I'm trying to make up for three months of training in five days, and the next, I'm thrown into this other world.  It doesn't seem like I can use my exquip magic either, which doesn't help matters, and I'll have to get used to being a weapon rather than using one.  It's nice to have access to free food, though.  [As soon as she finds a bakery, she'll be set.  ...Also, the bakery will quickly run out of cake.]

At any rate, I suppose introductions are in order.  I'm Erza Scarlet, a mage of the Fairy Tail guild.  ...Though I suppose that might not mean much to many of you, I will still be looking forward to helping out however I can.

[So guess who has had sometime to look over you Death City, to watch you move and breathe and feast upon each other like ravenous dogs. Yes, he declared his judgement on the city from the get go but he was willing to hold out on passing judgement and speaking to the plethera of mongrels before he could weigh his facts correctly. There's still some things about the city that he doesn't like, nor will ever like considering that he is who he is and a man of his caliber does have standards afterall. But that doesn't answer the question that he's been wondering, the question that he has yet to ask.]

This place, it has yet to change. Such a barren wasteland, with such intrigue yet little potential.  Funny how it should mirror the state of the world we originate.

Tell me, lowlifes, what is it that you fight for? What is it that drives you? A man in my position is curious as to wants of those of the lower class. And I am curious enough to listen.

The more entertaining and worth while the objective the better.

[Hitsugaya is a little reluctant to go to the network with this, but it's already been a day. He's in his room, which could just as well be Sougo's room with the amount of his things scattered there. He keeps his face neutral, but the slight furrow of his brow could indicate to those who know him well a certain amount of concern.]

When someone's belongings are still around, does that mean they're still in Death City, or is it possible they returned to their world?

That said, has anyone seen Okita Sougo?

[He's not sure whether or not to assume his partner is dead in a ditch somewhere. :|]

[As the feed powers on, Kratos can be seen standing in the middle of an apartment. Some people might recognize it as being Colette and Fuuka's residence. A small barking from below causes the redhead to briefly glance down, an uncertain expression momentarily crossing his face. That vanishes quickly enough as he returns his attention to the device in hand.]

Is there anyone who is knowledgeable on the subject matter of household animals, young dogs in particular? One has temporarily come into my care and despite feeding him, giving him water, walking him and brushing him, it appears that he still desires something.

[Like a playmate and petting but that really doesn't even cross his mind. What animal could possibly want that from him, right?

Instead of turning the device off, he stares at it for a moment as though considering something. A few seconds pass before he speaks again.]

Also, I have been contemplating a philosophical question as of late and am curious as to others' opinions on the matter. If you were to learn the future and find that a terrible fate awaited you or a loved one, would you attempt to alter said fate? Do you believe it even possible to fight one's own destiny?

[Not like he asked that for a reason or anything. Purely out of curiosity. Just as he's about to turn off the communicator, a sharp tug at his pant-leg makes him once again look down. A heavy, thoughtful frown crosses his face while the puppy barks cheerfully at him.]

...Do you perhaps want a bath?

[A loud whimper.]

I suppose not.

[After running across the hall to check on Snake, Clover has decided to stay in his room for the time being, refusing to let him out of her sight after something like that. He's perfectly capable of taking care of himself, of course, maybe even more so than her; but that won't stop her.

The feed clicks on, just as another rumble of an aftershock vibrates through the city; and she grips onto the communicator tightly before speaking.
]

It's been happening for the past hour or so now.
[Even after the initial earthquake! She looks annoyed.] Anyone wanna tell me when they're supposed to stop?

[From nearby comes a very calm voice, which is a bit odd given the situation.]

Most seismic activity is impossible to predict, Clover. There may be an aftershock days from now.

Days?!

[Are you serious. That's what her tone seems to suggest; but it's Snake, so she's inclined to believe him. Which is probably why she's groaning.]

Yes. In fact, some aftershocks have been recorded years after the initial earthquake.

[Clover has to stare at him for a moment in disbelief, before she finally turns back to the camera.]

That's just great. And nobody knows what's happening, huh?

No...they don't. Now you should really stop asking silly questions so these people can get back to handling this crisis.

But—!

[There is a pause and a sigh, and maybe even a pout from the pink-haired girl...and she moves her hand and hovers over the button to end the call.]

Fine. I was just trying to find out more information...not like there's been any.

[And she pushes it.

Judging from the other feeds, everyone's just as clueless anyway...

Useless.
