01 { feb 13: mid-morning } { video+text }

[comradery]

[The video starts with the camera shaking around. Through the shakiness, one can make out Hughes' knees and feet and possibly the floor.]

Here we go!

[The feed suddenly jerks up and the floor can be seen clearly, but the video starts moving around again soon after. The communicator is being waved.]

Record this! Record this!

[A hand takes the device, and it stops shaking excessively. Bakura replies.]

Okay!

[The communicator gets turned around and positioned properly. One can see Hughes is bandaged up and sitting in a wheelchair. Behind him is Amaterasu who is standing on her hind legs with her front paws set against the handles of the wheelchair. Bakura talks to the two of them.]

Everybody wave!

[Amaterasu grins and raises a paw to motion a wave. Her tail is wagging hard. Hughes grins and waves too.]

Look at what Ammy can do!

[Hughes jabs his thumb in her direction. Bakura speaks up and positions the camera so it's easier to see Amaterasu.]

Pretty impressive, ne?

[Amaterasu barks a couple times and pushes the wheelchair forward. Hughes starts laughing really excitedly and jokes between his laughter.]

Don't mind us! Just out for a stroll!

[Bakura laughs from behind the communicator and follows after as they move along. After a few more seconds, Hughes turns and waves his arm at Bakura for the communicator. He chuckles as he speaks.]

Okay, okay, that's enough of that. I think we all can see how talented Ammy here is now.

[He grins at Amaterasu. The camera shakes a little before the video feed is cut off. There is a text note beneath the video.]

Sorry! I was so distracted after that I forgot to post it up on the network yesterday. Thanks so much for helping me out, Bakura and Ammy!

[It seems the video was recorded some time in the afternoon the day before.]

I might do that! For now, I think I need a break though. I was staring at the screen all night since I wasn't tired, haha.
I never imagined you could play a game like that on such a small device! I'll bet my daughter would love it!

Yup! She plays with dolls and stuffed toys a lot and makes stories for them. It's really cute!

She likes when I read to her as well, so I'll bet she would really love to "make her own story", y'know? Haha!

[[d'aww. Bakura can't help but give a very warm, if a touch wistful smile at that.]]

My sister and I would do that too, with mom's help. It's really great you can share that with her...

Hehe. Yeah... I wonder how she's doing.

I think...children should deserve the best love that's out there. It's tough growing up without it, but they're the future we rely on. If we don't show them love, then how will they understand how important it is?

[He pauses, realizing that Bakura might not be able to relate. Hughes was mostly speaking from what he recalled of the Elric brothers.]

Anyway. If there is anyone who is ever lonely or feels unloved, I'd want to show them it's not true. Everyone has a place in this world; no one is meant to be alone.

[shiromadoushi]

[[There's an almost unreadable expression on Bakura's face at that. It's an old hurt that he's told himself that he's over. He knows it's not his father's fault, that his father tries his best to give him everything he could want, but...

There's a moment of quiet before he speaks]]

That's a good philosophy to have.

[Hughes can tell from the pause that something is off. He is not one to pry, but he offers what he can.]

Y'know, Bakura, that goes for you too. If you're ever lonely at all, you can come find me. I won't mind. And if you don't? I'll go find you instead, hehe.

[shiromadoushi]

Aaa-- [[rubs the back of his neck with a small laugh]] Don't worry about me, I'm all right. I've made friends here, so I'm really not alone anymore. [[assures with a smile. Even if he was still deeply missing Vash... he'd just gotten used to sharing and then to lose that so quickly...]]

[Hughes knows better than to trust those words. He hears similar things from Roy all the time after all.]

You can have friends and still be lonely, y'know. I know some people that get lonely all the time, even when they're surrounded by their friends. Regardless, my offer still stands. You're a friend to me, Bakura, and I don't want to let you down.

[shiromadoushi]

[[he looks down slightly at that, still smiling, just a bit more faintly.]] Thank you...

There's nothing to thank me for, Bakura. That's just what real friends are meant to do.

[shiromadoushi]

[[nods with a very warm smile]] And you'll let me do the same? Whenever you want company...

Of course. If you're fine with that.
