*Auron belatedly recalls Roy saying something about making posts if you were a Zone Leader in the Watch every time new people strolled in. Better late than never, he supposes.*

To all the people who just showed up in town, welcome. Name's Auron and I, along with my Weapon partner Katakura Koujurou, are Zone Leaders of the Watch in the Shopping District.

If you have questions about everything going on here, you can contact any Zone Leader. Or the Watch. You feel like knowing more and signing up, we have an office *that he throws in where to find* Or you can harass Roy Mustang. He loves talking to people.

I also run a class on survival skills and I'll be teaching another one coming up soon. This one will deal with desert survival. As to where it takes place, I'll let you know.

You would make no good pet if you already start to think like this after only a few decades.

Well, I wasn't trying out to be anyone's pet so I'm probably all right.

[There is a pause before he switches to private.]

Why did you go out of your way to bring me away from that cave?

Because you needed help.

I did not ask you for it.

[Despite the choice of words his words hold no accusation. He simply wants to know why Auron did it.]

I know. I still wanted to help you.

You'd think someone 4 billion years old would realize how irrational we are.

I do. It has yet to quit puzzling me at times.

[One of his ears flicks without him noticing.]

What makes you think that it was 'help' at that time?

You might be the Lord of the Dead, but while you're here, you can suffer and be hurt like the rest of us.

It's extremely irrational for me to help you, considering who you are, but I did it anyway.

I do and it is. [he agrees. That doesn't answer his question of 'why', though.]

Nice that we can agree on something.

I guess...I guess that to some people, if you turn your back on someone who needs help when you know you can help them, it doesn't say a lot about you.

Why does it matter?

It doesn't matter to some people. To me it's...it's...I guess you'd call it conscience. It's not a very rational answer at all.

But one that makes sense. [He made a small complicated gesture with his head that could be either a nod or a shake.] You did it for yourself, so that you would not feel bad for your actions. Is that correct?

Probably the nearest answer that I can think of.

Also, I've been in positions that I wished I had help but I had to get myself out of trouble. So there's that too.

*he chuckles* Not rational in the least.

I think there is a saying for a thing like that.
