[So after a few days from his initial arrival, Steve finally decides to use the communicator he's given. He's not averse to using it, if the technology is helpful he's gonna work with it. He looks at the device, his expression friendly.]

Hello, this is Steve Rogers. Word is that I was here before, but guess that's happened to others too. Don't have my memories of that time, but I'm not against reintroducing myself and meeting anyone I've worked with before. [He's actually a little angry about that, but he's not showing it. It's sorta the opposite of waking up in New York, but still frustrating in its own way. Regardless, Steve remains calm and polite on the video feed.]

Not against meeting new soldiers- people, either. Trust in your comrades is always important. Doesn't matter what world you come from.

Try not to call us soldiers. Just because we are part of a war doesn't mean we're soldiers. Even those of us who fight.

[Way to not introduce yourself, Akiha.]

I apologize, ma'am. [He suddenly remembers his conversation with Tony in the Helicarrier about not being soldiers.] Seems that I haven't learned from the last time someone mentioned it to me.

But are you alright?

Thank goodness someone here has manners. I'm Tohno Akiha.

And I'm perfectly fine. Why do you ask?

I try. [Small smile.] Nice to meet you, Miss Akiha.

There are a few scratches on your cheek. Wonderin' if it's the result of something more serious.

I'm a Meister, Rodgers. We tend to get injured on missions. [She gestures to her cheek.] This is nothing.

Oh, and I'm Japanese, so Akiha is my given name. I would prefer you use my family name given we have just met.

Yeah, but still can't hurt to ask someone if they're okay.

Oh, sorry. [Gosh, his talking with women still needs work.] Miss Tohno then.

[She waves her hand dismissively.]

You seem very American, so I'll forgive you. And your concern is appreciated, though not needed. I'm quite competent as a Meister.

Anyways, I want this war to end, so your being a soldier will be beneficial to Shibusen. BREW seems to pull the most random people here and many have to learn how to fight.

[He smiles a little.] I don't doubt that. [About her being a competent Meister.]

I noticed that it has a habit of bringing in all sorts of folks. It'd be helpful if we knew more about BREW to start with.

I don't even think Shinigami knows much about BREW and he was the one to foolishly use it.

Never works out when people use weapons that they don't have much information on. Hopefully he learned from his mistake. [He's maybe a tad grumpy about BREW still.]

Well desperate people do desperate things. Stupid things.

[He can't argue with that.] If I may ask, what made you join the war?

I want to go home. [Said bluntly.] And I'm not about to wait for someone else to end this war for me when I can make it happen faster.

[Small smile.] Taking the initiative. [He definitely respects that, even if she seems a little young. But it just seems to be a fact in this place.] Were you familiar with battle before Death City?

Not like this. I am the head of a very powerful family. Sometimes incidents occurred that, despite best efforts, ended in violence. Because of that, I was trained to be able to handle myself.

[That seemed... a good enough answer that wouldn't flag anything that might lead Steve to believe she wasn't exactly human. Right?]

Always good to know how to defend yourself. But I hope that your family situation becomes better.

It will. Once I get back home and resume my place.

[Brief nod.] I'm plannin' on doing my part in the war and help people return to their world.

I hope you're competent.

Have some experience with these things, so hope I am too.

This place is different than where you come from. Find a good partner. That's the key to being effective here.

I've heard, plannin' on finding someone eventually. Sounds to me that it's a big decision.

It is. Resonance is extremely important.
