[Akiha is sitting out on her balcony when she decides to make an important announcement. Both of her hands are bandaged and she's sporting some thin cuts on her face. Just... ignore the dark circles under her eyes that she failed to cover up well with makeup.]

The witch known as Hachi that was responsible for the abduction of several guests, the manufacturer of the Madness Chip and creator of the colored clowns is no more. Two days ago, my partner and I tracked her down in China and took her soul. Sion Eltnam Atlasia is now a deathscythe.

As today is my birthday, Sion will most likely not be available until tomorrow, so please hold off seeking her out for congratulations or information until then.

[Mello hardly ever uses video, but he's rather proud that he came out of a battle with a Witch with only minor injuries to show for it: the bandages on both his forearms are the extent of the damage.

Near was slightly more worse for the wear, but he is the one who had to consume a Witch soul. Now he's awake and on the mend, and though Mello hasn't yet left his clinic bedside (the IV stand and bed railing, but not Near, are clearly visible behind Mello), there are public service announcements to be got out of the way.]

Yesterday, my partner and I defeated the Witch Isabella, and became the newest Death Scythe pair.

[He permits himself the closest to a real smile most people are ever likely to see from him, which skews slightly wicked before he speaks again.]

We might have broken the Grand Canyon a bit in the process. Sorry.

*There is some momentary fumbling with the video portion of the controller and then it's steady as a man with very long blond hair and yellow eyes looks into his communicator.*

Is there a word for a sensation of being someplace before and yet, you cannot quite recall how that can be? I have never seen this...thing I am holding, nor have I seen this place before, yet I know how to use this device and this streets are familiar.

*He closes his eyes and rubs his head, as though it pains him.* Can someone enlighten me as to whether I have been here before?

[Despite it being after 11:00pm, a face that has been absent from Death City or any of the recent missions for the last week appears on DEMISE. In fact, Akiha looks far too awake and alert for the time of night. Hair still wet from a recent shower, she has the mirror propped up on her coffee table, letting the viewer see that she has a few newspapers before her - some in English, some in Japanese - that she's leafing through.]

I understand it's late, but is there anyone still awake that can give me an overview of anything of import that transpired this last week? Sion and I have been gone since the Sixth.

My apologies for the sudden notice, but Shibusen has requested that I deliver this announcement to the Guest population of Death City.

Two days ago, San Jose Costa Rica received a direct threat from Hachi, the Witch responsible for several atrocities and believed to have 'developed' the Clowns we've faced in the recent past. The country's government has approached Shibusen for aid, and so will be lending assistance during this time of crisis.

It falls to us, the Guests of Shibusen, to volunteer our own.

Be advised however, that while the city is once again under evacuation, there are many that aren't inclined to leave a second time and have instead elected to take up arms against this threat in an effort to defend their homes. Due to the strong civilian presence, extra care must be taken to ensure as few casualties as possible.

In other words, protect the civilians as much as possible while fending off what will likely be another wave of clowns, along with a high likelihood of Kishin Eggs.

We're setting out to begin preparations for the city's defense tomorrow. Every hand available to assist would be greatly appreciated. For those interested, we're moving out of Shibusen tomorrow morning. There's no need to state your interest to me, simply show up at Headquarters and request anything you may need ahead of time.

I will however, take any questions.

[From the low lighting and the frosty pineapple-garnished drink in front of her, Morgan seems to be in a bar somewhere, probably the Bitch’s Brew.]

So, those people at the school told me I’m a [waving her hands in air and mimicking the missions desk receptionist] “two-star Meister” now after I came back from that last job the other day. Just what does that mean? Do I get paid more? Or nicer quarters? [There’s gotta be some benefits to go with it, right?]

Or do I at least get to fight vicious sheep and trees with bad breath less often? Why are so many of the mission targets farm animals, relatives of farm animals, and poisonous plants anyway? [A roll of the eyes. She’s supposed to be a Mighty Pirate Hunter[TM], not a dairy farmer!] Do the rest of you end up with those kinds of lame targets too?

[Rosalia doesn't make that many announcements. In fact, the last time she made one was because of BREW's acting up. This time, she's not like before. She has managed to put on a smile for this.]

Hello, everyone. I've been meaning to make this post for a while now, but there were a few things I got caught up in including the mission yesterday.

Anyway, my name's Rosalia. I've been left in charge of managing the Horrorspital, but I think most of you knew that. We could always use more help so if you would like to join, just contact me with what medical knowledge you know and we'll find a position for you. Besides that...

[She pauses for a moment.] ... I used to be a Weapon, but now I'm a Meister and I'm looking for a partner. Though, I'll be honest, I wouldn't be able to take that many missions because of my position and any attacks aimed at the city means making sure the clinic is secure so we can start treating any injuries. If that's okay then I'd really like to try resonating with you.

Thank you very much for listening.

[And now... private because she has a small question to ask. How to... there it is.]

[Karina's at the training ground and the camera is fixed at a training dummy that seems to have been frozen over. Well, it's melting now. But still, it's not everyday you see a snowman frozen dummy in the summer heat.]

It took me a really long time to try to learn it, but... I guess I can finally say that I can resonate with myself now. I thought about it during the attack on the city some days ago. I was doing my best to defend myself then suddenly, one of those things came too close. Next thing I knew, I blasted it away with my soul energy concentrated in one hand.

I know I still have to practice it... the way powers work in this place. But like Akiha said some days back, Meisters don't have to feel useless without a weapon.

[She pauses, thinking if she should end the feed right then and there. But a heaviness in her heart makes her continue.]

... it just feels a little lonely being without a partner.

How many of you Meisters during this last attack on Death City were without a Weapon partner around when the clowns emerged? How many of you felt ineffectual - helpless - without a Weapon in your hands?

[She pauses, her blue eyes unyielding as she stares at the mirror.]

Now. How many of you haven't been properly training your Meister Abilities? Obviously, this doesn't apply to any of you with passive abilities, but if your ability is one you can control, I suggest you spend some time learning to master it so you aren't fully reliant upon a Weapon partner.

And if you think your ability can only be used with resonance, you're most likely correct. [She then holds her hand up and crimson sparks surround it for a moment.] But there's nothing that says Soul Menace is the only ability that can be used through resonating with your own wavelength.

Every day that I'm not on mission, I'm at Morning Training, ready to help my fellow Meisters learn to master their abilities. Every morning, I wait for someone who wants to learn and no one shows up to my area. I understand that I am not the most pleasant of women, but I am a resource that untapped when it comes to training, Meisters.

Now, I expect to see you at training with me, or we can set up something private. I don't really care which option you take, but if you felt like you couldn't do anything without a Weapon in hand?

Fix that.

Has concluded doing so now is marginally less embarrassing than having to describe similarities between self and imposters, as would be necessary to supply context for text post. This way, other imports to Death City can see mismatched eyes and mustard-yellow t-shirt (this one with honeycomb pattern) for selves, and draw appropriate conclusion.]

Don't know exactly how attackers got powers that rightfully belong to self. But am sorry for trouble they caused.

Does anyone know how they were able to mimic?

I understand that many of you do not enjoy this type of weather. The ongoing heat and lack of a cool wind, even as the season of fall comes ever closer to us.

However, some of us do feel quite comfortable in 'oppressive heat'. And among those people, some of us were foolish enough to attempt to enjoy a much cooler climate and suffered some aftereffects due to the lowered defenses of the immune system.

What I mean to say is that I should avoid seeing others for a short while.

[Karina is hanging out on the balcony of the large unit Matt left her with. Even its size couldn't save her from the blistering heat. And so, here she was, hoping that catching the breeze from a higher level could help. She has a pair of aviator sunglasses on, and dressed in a way that looks perfectly at home at one of those Woodstock-y outdoor music festivals.]

Gosh, is it hot out here. [She looks aside from the camera for a moment, sighing and speaking under her breath.] I wish Matt was still around so we could freeze something to keep cool. But... yeah. He's been gone a while.

Anyway, I came on here to ask if Meisters can use their abilities without a weapon. I found out that mine gives weapons the ability to freeze things or shoot ice. If I could use mine without a weapon, I can volunteer it to help with all this heat. Or... maybe if there's any weapon around who'd like to try working with me, we can try making the place cooler, too.

[The video feed starts up with Lee rubbing at his hair with a towel. It seems he just hopped out of the shower, and as he's normally the type to want to be presentable when speaking to others (no one has seen his hair in such disarray here, after all) he must have been hit with inspiration just moments before.]

Good evening, fellow guests of Shibusen! I know it is late but I realized just now that there has been little to advertise when it comes to our Morning Training lately, and that is rather lax of me! I beg all of your pardons for my lack of enthusiasm!

[He clears his throat, but honestly his voice is quite loud as it is.]

For those of you who are new to Death City, welcome! If I have not made your acquaintance yet, then I apologize for missing your arrival! I do have some news, however, that you may find interesting! Every morning, from the hours of six to nine in the morning we have training hosted by Shibusen to encourage partnership and further knowledge in both battle and medical prowess. There are also booths hosted by a variety of organizations--The Watch, S.E.E.S., and my personal favorite, The Hug Brigade!

Currently, we are a bit short-staffed. We do provide free breakfast for all who come, even if you do not participate in the training itself, though it is Highly Encouraged that you do participate!

If you have any further questions about the classes we offer, there are information flyers around Shibusen itself or you could ask me for details! If anyone is looking for a job, do contact myself or Hyuuga Neji, current head of the Watch for those not in the know, and we will discuss options for becoming a teacher. It is a paid position, after all, and only a few hours a day if your time is limited.

[Lee shakes his head. He actually looks a bit tired for once, but his smile is still spirited.]

Thank you for your time. And have a good evening!

((ooc: For more in-depth details about training itself, feel free to check out the OOC post here. Lee is willing to take questions but feel free to just hit up the OOC post if you want to have your character get the job. :3 ))

[It's already past 100 degrees out, so the video catches Kanji in his usual form-fitting sleeveless tops. He's bruised in several places and bandages are stuck on exposed skin every which way to cover up where beaks and claws had broken skin, but the Meister looks a little more tired than anything else. He runs an upper arm over his forehead to mop up a bit of sweat.]

S'dry heat, I know, but it's still hot as balls out--

[Oh. Shit. The red light's on a little sooner than he thought. Well then. Enjoy your colorful comparison, if you can call it that.]

Uh, sup? ...So it's done. Took down our witch, and we got ourselves another Deathscythe runnin' around. But somethin' went wrong after the witch soul was absorbed, so we had to stay in the clinic for a couple days until Naoto stabilized. Whole lotta power rushin' around in the soul beats the shit outta you. Yeah. Who knew? But...

[He turns the device to look over his shoulder. The detective's on the couch in the apartment living room, testing commands against Watson, the rottweiler pup, who is madly wagging his tail and making huffing noises as he sits, lies down, speaks and so on. Camera's back to the owner, who for the moment is still a little distracted by the scene.]

...We're all good, I think. Gotta check back in a day or two for the all clear, but... shit...

[He tightens his jaw and keeps himself as cool as he can be. But he's not looking at the camera and there's the slight tinge of pink across his face, betraying the demeanor just a little.]

I'm jus'... r-relieved, y'know? I thought I fucked up somehow. So I guess consider this a heads up for the guys out there gettin' close to their last few souls: Keep an eye on your partner. Don't let up.

[Shu's been reading detective books recently. He doesn't get what it means to solve a murder mystery, but he's been trying to learn!

He looks frustrated and annoyed because it's complicated for him to understand. So that brings this question:]

Is there a specific way you should think if you want to solve a mystery?

I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere with this one. Maybe I should stop thinking so hard.

How many of you can understand murder mysteries well?

[Shu then tries to put a book back onto the bookshelf. Instead of placing it correctly, a pile of books come falling down onto him.]

Ahh!

This is Auron, second-in-command of the Watch. The storms have died down but a bunch of kishin eggs are now running around in the city.

We're not going to let them take this city without a fight! Zone Leaders, get your people together. We'll all meet at the front gates, see how bad it is and retake the city zone by zone. Partners will be essential because we don't know how many of these things are running around.

For people not in the Watch, I wouldn't mind you working together with us. If you're going to try to fight the eggs, don't go on your own. Stay in groups. Know your limits. No one person here is going to be able to take them all on by themselves. But if we all work together, between all of us, we will win.

For anyone else that isn't fighting and doesn't want to enter the city alone, find someone in the Watch or talk to me and we'll figure out how to get you home.

*Auron lifts his massive sword in one hand.* Let's go. Time's wasting.

[The video begins in a very interesting and rather lovely room, quite different from Death City's usual fare: The feed appears to be coming from a very BLUE lounge, lavishly decorated with sofas, cloth-covered tables, and the bluest curtains. A pair of cabinets are in the shot, one carrying various types of glasses and a few bottles of this and that. The other is filled to the brim with books, though titles can't be determined. If the viewer listens hard, there's a relaxing tune going on in the background, completing the display.

That... and the two people within the shot. There was Kanji, seated atop one of the tables, and Naoto stands with an open book propped atop one hand. The observant can tell there's something odd with the way Kanji and Naoto are dressed, just as blue as the room among... other things. But that's not important. Standing as a stark contrast among the blue are bright red armbands on the left upper arm of both individuals, reading 'S.E.E.S.' on each.]

[Naoto nods, clearing... her? thoat. Seems a pink in the face and a little embarrassed.] Good evening. It's been some time since SEES matters were addressed, and we apologize for the silence.

[Kanji's looking less embarrassed, despite the attire.] We got a lotta new people in Death City since the last time, so consider this not only a 'SEES is ready to fire up again', but a 'hey, welcome to the weirdest goddamn city. If ya don't like Halloween, well, you're kinda screwed.'

[Naoto frowns at him briefly.] Be that as it may, SEES is open to new and old faces alike. We all meet here, in the Velvet Room, located in the Shopping District. You've seen our table set up before Casualty Communal after you first arrive, giving out welcome baskets to help make your transition easier, but that isn't all that we do. We're a group focused on not only community-building, but aiding and protecting Death City and its people despite being a 'Guest'.

SEES was founded on, uh... 'destiny', but really it started up on what we're all good at. If you're a fighter, cool. We're right out there when someone else decides to try n' trash Death City, or we head out on a campaign of Shibusen's to turn the tide of the war. If you're not a fighter, you got a place here, too: There's always a need for a friendly face and extra pair of hands to help repair the city, provide support to your pals and help welcome the newcomers each week.

[Naoto snaps the book shut at hand and nods.] We've also removed the age limit set by the previous leaders... any and all of you are welcome to join SEES. Kanji and I are happy to answer any questions you may have over the network or in person. Members receive a Velvet Key to access your new headquarters and an arm band worn during duty. We aim to meet more often and discuss new ways to help Death City and Shibusen as a whole, and would like to hear your ideas as well. Please, don't hesitate to speak up.

A'right... I think that covers it. So give us a shot and let's kick Death City back into good shape, yeah? Keepin' our current home safe's just as important as goin' out there and kickin' ass!

[Both appear content, glancing to one another, but both look away quickly. Yeah, they look ridiculous.]
