[February 4th -- Mid-Morning] --- [Video]
[He is silent for a moment, his tail swishing from side-to-side in a more annoyed manner than he would usually do.]
Those ghastly attacks from the Witches from before - though that's nothing new, however it is still both very sad and very irritating. That, and with those people that have been taken...
[His tail stops, as he looks back at the Camera.]
It only makes me glad that I am going. I know not what I am to expect, exactly, except that I know that I will attempt to do my best to help my meister whilst we do battle. However, I shall most certainly not forget that our main objective is to bring people back home where they belong.
[Odd, when did Death City become "home" instead of, well...]
So for everyone that is going, pray do take care, and bring back our fellows back from the clutches of those witches.
As for those that are new arrivals -- I would think it depends on whether or not you have a partner, if you have the battle experience, and if you are confident in your abilities to participate in such an undertaking. However if you are, Godspeed.

video.
for all but the colour, he looks so much like shinonome -- it's a little uncanny. and unfortunately, it only serves to remind him of the indeterminate amount of time that stands between him and returning to his own world and finally being reunited with her after so long.
no time to be sad, though. introductions, manners, are in order.] I'm sure the rest of us are glad that you're going, too. Not every city can say that it's under a dragon's protective wing; our side and the soon-to-be-rescued should consider themselves fortunate.
He gives the man a slight bow.]
Sir, perhaps you might be making me to be a larger dragon as I would normally would be back at home, however that is not the case. BREW saw fit for me to be smaller than I would normally be.
[With that, he only stretches his wings a bit and letting them flutter a little before letting them finally settle at his sides. Size happens to be a bit of a sore point for him, but he does not blame the man. He was nice enough to give him compliments, after all.]
Despite that, I am still glad to be a part of the watch and do my part for the people that live in this city, both citizens and guests alike.
I only consider my participation in the coming mission as something that most anyone would do if given the chance, as well as the right thing to do; for it simply would not be right to leave our fellow guests at the hands of those witches who have wrought to do us so many wrongs.
Pray pardon, but I do believe you are one of the relatively new arrivals?

a polite smile.] My name is Qilby, and it's been a very long time since I've met a dragon outside of those that lived alongside my people. They would have felt the same way you feel... [they'd have been sore over being shrunk too, i mean--] They would not suffer a wrong to go uncorrected.
I regret I'm not in any shape to join you, though know that your cause has my full support.

[He is attempting to go along, but is still sticking with how serious it's been as of late.]
Ah, then it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Qilby. As you have graciously given me your name, I shall give you mine - it is Temeraire.
Seeing as you have mentioned it, I now find myself curious curious of the fact: you say your people lived alongside dragons? Not many other people do, aside from those in my world.
[And even then, only the military did in Europe, whilst in China... he did not know the specifics, so he will not dwell on them much.]
As for your support, I thank you very much. It would do wonders for morale knowing that there are people cheering us on whilst we are doing our mission.
I do hope that if you are feeling unwell, that you do feel better soon, however.

It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Temeraire. And no, the type of coexistence my brothers and sisters shared with dragons wasn't all that common, even in our universe. We were born of dragons many millennia ago, and were bonded by blood ever since. [he never dropped the polite smile, though it's sadder now -- more nostalgic.] I had a dragon sister, Shinonome, and my more human-looking siblings had dragons of their own as well.
You're so well-spoken. You remind me a little of her, actually.

Fighting is not the only thing that is helpful in wars. Those that teach and train, those that heal, those that help with strategies and logistics, and other countless capacities. Those are very important as well, I think.
[He stays silent as he hears him talk about... how he and his people are descended from dragons. That is in and of itself a great wonder, for while he looks human, he states that he and his siblings have dragon blood running through their veins. A sister that was a dragon herself. It reminds him of Kefentse and how he cared for his people, but this was in a more direct level.
Kefentse was born a dragon from dragons and cares for humans. Qilby states that dragons are indeed siblings to those that look like humans.
Colour his mind blown.]
Shinonome is a dragon, and your sister -- pardon me, but while I do believe you, for you wouldn't speak of it as casually as you do if you were not, but it is a good deal to process. In my world, we have no such blood ties, but dragons can come to care for humans. But blood ties... that is a great wonder to behold.
As for how I carry myself through speech, I do thank you for the compliment. Anything that I have learned has been through my Captain, who had taken the time to read to me most every evening.
[He is trying his best to hold back even more questions, because he wants to be polite. The man, who has ties with dragons, will speak at his own pace, and might bring things up as he goes along.]

Oh no, no, I understand it must be a bit of a strange concept for anyone to wrap their head around. But to be fair, it was only the five of my siblings and I that shared a particularly close bond with our dragons. The rest of our people merely lived among them, which seems a much more common occurrence in the worlds of other guests I've spoken with. [a beat.] Not that that's saying much.
Your Captain-- is he a human, then?
no subject
The latter seems to be more along the lines of my world, except that in Europe it is more a country's military that deals with dragons. In China, dragons do live alongside people, and even work in the Imperial Civil Service in which they take exams and are given a silk strap to indicate their office.
Others even provide a form of mass-transportation for humans as well. That is not to say that China does not have its own aerial military, for it does, and a good number at that.
Ah -- yes, my Captain is indeed a human. Every Captain would be for everyone of us that are in the Military.

Your world sounds truly incredible, Temeraire. My people and I have been to many planets over the millennia, but never have I come across one like that.

One other young woman that left this world, had told me that back in her own world, she had met the last living dragon.
Apparently, they are not as numerous in the few where they do exist, which is quite disheartening. In the others where they do not exist, it seems that they are at least alive through myth and lore.
Well then Mr. Qilby, if you share my universe, and at the year 1808 A.D., I am quite sure you would be glad to meet me again along with my wingmates.
[Or... not. He had been taking care of three eggs, and had a fire-breathing dragon who shall remain nameless for the time being.]
Oh, there are also dragons that have lived apart from Humans. Only that Humans call them ferals, and think them uncivilized, even though they have a language. For example, Arkady and his band speak Durzagh.
[He's forgetting to explain what exactly it is he's talking about at all.]
no subject
a wide smile.] I wouldn't rule it out. Though my people and I travelled across our universe for some years -- stopping on many planets along the way -- we were but a single grain of sand in the desert that is the Krosmoz. So many worlds are left to explore -- perhaps even your planet is among them. Maybe I will get the chance to see it some day.
[his smile falters.] And I... Empathise with your experiences, at any rate. My people are lost, and have been for several millennia. Only two of my brothers and their dragons live today.
And it may be disheartening, and while we are kept barely alive through what we've left behind -- there is hope. [a deep breath, and some forced laughter.] Or at least there will be, once I get around to getting back to the world I came from. Not that we were in a particular rush to get this task done, but BREW does have an awful sense of timing...
