[Aqua was sitting by a window, with her knees draw up and the communicator balanced on top. She leaned back against the wall, posture relaxed.]

I've been wondering, does anyone come from a world with magic? If so, would you mind telling me a little about it?

[She reaches out a hand to steady the communicator when it slides a little to the left before righting it again.]

I specialized in magic back home, so I'm curious about what kinds of magic exists in other worlds.

I found a copy of the Grimm's Fairy Tales in the library. [She smiled.] I really enjoyed it; thank you for recommending it to me.

There is an old legends that a long, long time ago, many cultures before this one, a group of magicians came together and performed a forbidden rite that was that atrocious that the gods themselves had sealed the knowledge about it away. By doing so they created seven magical artifacts that they used to protect the kingdom and rule it in the name of 'justice'. Each of those artifacts had immense power on its own and brought together they will open the door to an even greater unfathomable power to whoever possesses them.

However, only few were destined to hold those items and their power was neither good nor evil, no matter what the king would say. The kingdom has long since vanished, but it's said that the items still exist even today, somewhere, buried beneath the sands of time and guarded by those who are loyal to the old king even now.

But there are hints about them, bits and pieces which say that whoever manages to gain one of those items will not only be free to use their magical power as they please, but will also get his or her greatest wish granted - for a price.

I can't imagine that the price they'd have to pay would be low. [Greatest wishes and great power were not thing that tended to come cheap.]

Oh, it isn't. [He smiles maybe just a tad bit too cheerful.]

Does magic corrupt where you come from?

No. Magic was a tool. It couldn't corrupt someone any more than a regular sword or a hammer could. [What corrupted people was something else entirely.

She frowned.] Is that the price people had to pay? In exchange for this power they will slowly be come corrupted by it?

Less by the magic and more by the power granted and their own dirty desires, I'd say. [He smirks.]

There is only a small difference between sanity and insanity, justice and the lack there-off, don't you think? It's a line that is so easily crossed.

[Never mind the one or other 'dark' entity that has found its home in the items. Some of their owners ...stayed around, hehehe.]

No, I don't. [She responds to that smirk with a frown.] The two are completely different.

[His confident expression doesn't change.]

If you say so. You must be one of the lucky people who have always found themselves of the side of good, huh?

It's not luck. It's the path I've chosen and the one I plan to stick to for as long as I live.

How heroic. I wonder if those you sacrifice for that righteousness of yours are going to see it the same way.

[She bristled.]

I wouldn't sacrifice anyone.

[Her reply is a low chuckle.]

How about leaving others behind, then? Each act of 'good' is paid with somebody else's 'bad'.

[Her heart dropped. Terra...

In the next moment, she tightened her jaw, narrowing her eyes.]

That doesn't mean they'll be left behind. I wouldn't abandon my friends so easily.

[He smirks at her reaction.]

Oh, did that hit a nerve? How long has it been since you said that you'd be right back for them?

I don't see how that's any of your business.

It isn't. Except that I'm what became of one of those people who you 'heroes' left behind.

[She goes quiet for a moment, when she speaks again her voice is soft, but there is an edge to it, not quite angry but still sharp.]

My friends are nothing like you.

And I'll make my way back to them someday, no matter how long it takes. I won't break my promise to them.

[He laughs mockingly.]

Of course you will~ . And I doubt anybody else could become like me, after all I died more than 3000 years ago and am still here.

[A few retorts flash in her mind but she swallows them back. She wasn't going to lose her temper over this.

It would probably be best to focus on other things.]

3000 years? [That's a little hard to believe.] Then you were dead before BREW brought you here.

[Aw, how heroic~ He catches the small angry glint in her eyes; for a moment it resembles his own, back when he had been at his beginning stage.

Just a little push and then some more and some more, some more...

There is very little difference between what makes a hero and what a villain and he always feels the temptation to tear those down who are too sure of their righteousness.]

Dead yet damned to never rest until the "heroes" of my time have gotten the justice they deserve.

So you're tied down by your desire for revenge.

[She couldn't help but find that a little pitiful.]

[He smirks.] No one can truly draw the line between just and unjust, good and evil. 'Justice' or 'revenge', in the end those two are just two sides of the same damn thing.

The Pharaoh has a debt and that I'm still around is the best proof that he didn't pay enough for it yet!

Revenge is something that is fuelled by hate and anger. It is nothing but darkness.

Revenge is selfish. Justice isn't.

If you can't let go of this darkness it will eventually consume you.
