013; video; March 1st, morning

[Aqua was sitting by a window, with her knees draw up and the communicator balanced on top. She leaned back against the wall, posture relaxed.]

I've been wondering, does anyone come from a world with magic? If so, would you mind telling me a little about it?

[She reaches out a hand to steady the communicator when it slides a little to the left before righting it again.]

I specialized in magic back home, so I'm curious about what kinds of magic exists in other worlds.

[ private to Clover ]

I found a copy of the Grimm's Fairy Tales in the library. [She smiled.] I really enjoyed it; thank you for recommending it to me.

Well, a lot of people can do spells. Some have more specific skills linked to swords. I know I did in Spira.

We also have summoning, probably the greatest magic in Spira.

We had all sorts of magic back in my world! They were usually gifts from the gods.

... Those with elven blood had the ability to use magic back home. I can tell you a little about it if you wish.

Do items that let you use magic also count?

Aaa well my Earth doesn't really have it [...except it does when Bob's involved...], but they have lots of different types of magic in Shin Makoku and the human territories.

That depends on what you're defining magic as.

Hmm most of it was elemental magic - like fire, wind, earth and so forth.

About Shin Makoku? [He blinks at that.] You're right about that. The Mazoku, aaah demons, live in Shin Makoku. The country was built for them after a war a thousand of years before I ever got there.

I've become embroiled in something which could possibly be defined as magic, although I'm more inclined to file it away under 'blatant fuckery' myself. It's difficult to gauge whether it fits into your request or not considering the wide variety of universes represented here.

[It's his pride and joy C:]

Definitely! There's twelve gods, so we got twelve different types of magic. There's the Sadidas, who have earth magic, and the Cras, who have archery-related magic! My Papa Alibert was a follower of Enutrof, so he had a great knack for finding treasure and for pulling tricks off with his shovel.

I was rather talented at spellwork myself. What I had learned was mostly elemental in nature, but there were many other kinds of magic that could be studied, if one wished.

Magic...exists, on your world? I mean...f-for real?

[ She's seen fairies, met Excalibur, and can turn into a book--Yet for some reason, she doesn't consider any of that 'magic' or magic-related. Go figure. ]

Hrm... okay. There are four types: offensive, healing, summoning, and support. All magic uses Mana, an energy source that is more important than water. If there is no mana the land dies and magic cannot be used. Most offensive spells use one of the eight element: Fire, Water, Ice, Earth, Lightning, Light, Dark, and Wind.

Healing magic is used to heal others, but you can't depend on it. While it usually can cover small sound larger wounds, such as stab wounds, do a more extensive amount of damage so the spells have a lower chance of success.

Supportive magic helps those on the offensive side, providing them more defense and offense and well as help rid of any ailments like poison or paralysis.

Summoning gives you the ability to make pacts with the Summon Spirits in the world. There are ten summon spirits and if each of them are bound to one pact they cannot be bound to another pact.

Most sorcerers specialize in one or two types of magic. For example, I can use offensive and summoning magic. My older sister uses Supporting and Healing magic. Some even narrow it down even more. For example a companion of mine specializes in only using Lightning magic.

That's the basics. If you have any questions I'll do my best to answer them.
