[Aqua was sitting by a window, with her knees draw up and the communicator balanced on top. She leaned back against the wall, posture relaxed.]

I've been wondering, does anyone come from a world with magic? If so, would you mind telling me a little about it?

[She reaches out a hand to steady the communicator when it slides a little to the left before righting it again.]

I specialized in magic back home, so I'm curious about what kinds of magic exists in other worlds.

I found a copy of the Grimm's Fairy Tales in the library. [She smiled.] I really enjoyed it; thank you for recommending it to me.

[It's only proper to give one's name after someone else had done so. He goes back to the topic at hand quickly enough.]

It sounds as though you've experienced it for yourself.

[She sighed.]

I've met people from my world who are at least fifteen years ahead of my time. It was...strange to say the least.

Fifteen years is a long time. [Not as long in his case, but still long.] Had a great deal of events taken place during that time difference?

...it is.

[She frowned.]

I still don't know everything, but from what I was told a great deal had occurred in the time I was gone.

Not all of what you'd been told had been pleasant news, I take it?

There was some good news, but most of it wasn't. [And the bad news was really, really bad.]

[Ouch. Bad futures is something Kratos could sympathize with. He's quiet for a moment before speaking up. Maybe it'll help telling her what someone told him.]

Simply because someone told you about the future and what it holds does not necessarily mean those events are set in stone.

[She pursed her lips.]

I won't exactly be in a position to try to change it. [She wishes she could, but being trapped for fifteen years kind of dashes those hopes.]

[He raises an eyebrow at that. Won't be in a position to so? Does she perhaps die? Whatever happens, Kratos doesn't question it.]

Even so, do not give up hope that somehow your future may be altered. The impossible can be made possible; all that is necessary is the determination to make it so. [This doesn't sound as though he's saying it to be comforting. It actually seems as though he really means every word of that, which he does. He had witnessed the impossible.]

[If he had said it just to be comforting she probably wouldn't have believed it. This way, though, she couldn't help but believe.]

Don't lose hope, huh?

[Kratos nods. It may sound somewhat silly, but having hope can mean the difference between succeeding and failing.]

That's right. So long as you retain the smallest sliver of hope then the possibility of your goal coming to pass always exists, even if said goal is altering the very course of history.

...thank you. I'll try to remember that.
