[Demona just came back from a mission, so she is tired. But happy. Actually, very happy. And is currently at hers and Londo's apartment, surprise surprise.]

I see things are about to get exciting. Good. I was starting to get bored. [Londo, get ready~]


[PRIVATE TO: QILBY AND BARRICADE]

I believe you two haven't met yet, but this is a perfect time.

Barricade, I did not mention it, but there is someone who already knows my plans and has his of his own. They happen to come hand in hand. [aka, he's an ally. Yeah, sure, let's call him that.] Qilby. He is, too, interested in souls, their potential, and has no qualms with our objective.

And Qilby, I seem to have forgotten to mention Barricade to you. [more like, didn't feel like it yet. Wow, villains work so well together]

Do get acquainted with one another.  [so you two join together and go to that goddamn mission to get some souls, will you?]

There is a big mission coming up, and I thought you might need a hand. [see what she did there?]

Very clever, yes. I've never heard that one before.

[he's quite fond of dishing out the jokes, and all, but come on demona-- low blow! it's a remark that's easily brushed off, however, and he adds seriously:] This mission. You must've noticed that our goal is not to destroy the Witch technology, but to retrieve it.

What do you think that means?

[she'd love to get her hands on it, but due to madness and also how everyone will be focusing on it, there no way she can get it for her own.]

I'm hoping Cross' little group will finally do something rather than just choosing names. [hopefully, it will allow her near the thing]

But if something like that exists, the opposite can be created. [it'd be perfect for them to leave the city without being affected by the madness.]

That's what you say, but I personally refuse to start getting anything of real consequence done until I know what cutesy title we're going to give ourselves. [well someone's sarcastic today. maybe something's bothering him.

qilby massages his temples -- not because a headache's coming on, but because he needs to think, and there's so much going on at once.] You're probably on to something, that's likely what Shibusen intends to do with their spoils. Whether or not we'll get the chance to work with it ourselves is yet to be seen-- but if we are, that'll be our best chance to get a real first look at how magitech works on this world.

[she notices that, but she isn't going to ask. Not until it becomes more obvious, at least]

Yes. [a nod] And with one example we can try to build more based on that. [Demona wishes to build robots, and she would like if they had some of this world's magic, too]

Do you have any plan? [she doesn't think he will say it, but hey. Maybe]

I've been somewhat distracted lately. [so, no. but he adds, almost murmuring:] A chance to get out and stretch my limbs may be what it takes for me to concentrate again.

And I may be getting access to some of the more, aah-- well-guarded material in the school's library. If all goes as it should, we'll be swimming in new study material. Assuming what's kept in the restricted sections is everything that could possibly be useful, everything they don't want guests or students to take advantage of.

[Like he'd told her everything. It was going to take awhile for them to ever be on the same page, if ever. Now, about this other guy -]

It'd be terrible naive of me to trust everything on a first meeting. i doubt you'd want to relate to someone like that.

There is a big mission coming up. I believe you two can profit from each other, and I can profit from that.

['Don't worry', she says. She might have the advantage of being here longer, but that didn't mean he was going to spend his time running and hiding behind her.]

[whatever misgivings he had about meeting this little friend of demona's are... still misgivings, upon seeing the figure on the video feed.]

Yes... Yes, that's right.

[le squint.] Well. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it certainly wasn't... [hrm. he cuts himself off.] Our mutual friend Demona's told you all about us, and what we've already planned, I suppose?

[Barricade had his own misgivings - this guy looked awfully human. And not very imposing. 'Old' had different connotations for his species, but for organics it wasn't flattering at all. Demona's ulterior motive must be to get them both killed so she didn't have any competition.]

Wasn't an autonomous robotic organism? ['Alien robot' didn't have quite the same ring to it.] You can assume she's told me what she wanted me to know. I haven't been here very long.

[dissenter]

I was going to say "someone so impressive." [that smile may or may not make his reply seem more suspect-- but he sounds sincere enough.] You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find good help in a blasted desert, on a nondescript little planet in an equally unremarkable universe. That's some fortunate timing you have.

... You're a Weapon. [it's not really a question, or even a guess.]

[It's not flattery if you're telling him something he already knows, Qilby. Besides, he'd spent centuries serving under Starscream - the very definition of simpering platitude. Barricade didn't care much for it, even if it was a step up from Megatron.]

I'd believe it, because I've lived it. Specifically on this wretched planet.

I don't find human cities appealing enough to entertain me, however.
