Recently I was introduced to a practice that does not exist in my home world.

Said practice is 'marriage' and I became rather curious about it. Someone suggested to me that I read some wedding planning books or romance novels to learn more about it. I asked one of the sales person at the nearby bookstore for their most popular romance novels.

[At this point there is a very long pause in Disciple's reading as she tries to find a way to put this politely. She was pretty certain what she had been reading in these books was exaggerated, or some weird fetish fulfillment but what if it wasn't and she just ended up insulting a bunch of people?]

am confused. By a lot of things I have read in these books and would like clarification on some things so I do not go off with the wrong ideas of the romantic practices of humans. I'd rather not go into detail about what I have read in some of these books since I understand we have some young ones with access to this network, so if someone could just tell me about marriage and the human quadrant system I would be much obliged.

But I'm not asking anything personal. I'm just asking about marriage in general. I'd really like to know more about it.

[She sees what you are doing there. She doesn't move away but her grip on the mirror tightens.]

Are you getting ideas? Ready to to get down on one knee already?

[ teasing. he doesn't understand it completely himself. it seems just like some sort of ritual. a piece of paper doesn't mean much.

but the lifetime commitment? it's an idea that he is thankful that the humans have adopted. ]

[Gehehehe. He pretty much hit the nail on the head but she still wants to keep at least a small element of surprise, so she carefully takes the conversation in a slightly different direction.]

Then you know my curiosity cannot be abated. When it comes to all romantic practices or mediums especially, I wish to learn all there is to know.

[Well he wasn't the only one who had been thinking of using that exact same tactic. Disciple is momentarilly thrown that he initiated it, but she recovers quickly and is far from ready to admit defeat.

Her hands curl around his and she returns the kiss with equal vigor. Her small fangs brush against his bottom lip and she gives it a gentle tug, all the while walking forward in an attempt to corner him against the nearest wall.]
