['Keep calm'... that's what the video said. But he's anything -but- calm. With a fist slamming down on the counter, he finally lets it sink in. His jaw's tight and his eyes are steely.]

Some son of a bitch took Naoto!

[Then he turns his head away.]

And whoever did it must've taken Yako-san and Cupid, too. Damn it...! How did-!?

[He's at a loss. He's searched every part of Death City that he knew, but nothing turned up. He seems to have forgotten he was recording then, as his fists are balled his knuckles are turning a little white.]

Why the hell didn't I offer to walk with her to work...!?

[Protests have died down right now and she's dog tired, pardon the expression. Running around all day to get some people back in order, she needed a place to rest, but not yet. She had to drag herself around and visit some people missing their friends. Kidnapping? Really? Madness...]

[Not the time. She pawed at Kanji's door, yawning for a moment. Amaterasu had lots of places to still go, but he was the closest.]

[To say he felt goddamn powerless was putting it lightly. To wait like this until those with far more resources could pinpoint where they'd taken Naoto and their friends... it was maddening. Was this how everyone felt when the group he was with were taken to the Grand Canyon for Witch experiments? His mind was going back to that time sitting in the dark, curled up with others and trying to cheer them up the best he could, try to ignore the screaming and flesh-gnashing when another person was dumped into the pit to be feasted upon by kishin eggs... what if the Witches were behind this!?

He was jolted from his thoughts with an unusual sound at the door. It was almost like whenever Iza pawed at the door whenever either of them were late coming home from work, but it was louder... bigger? He stood and brought a heavy hand to the doorknob, checking to see who was on the other side.]

...Ammy? What're you doin' here?

[Her tail gave a tired wag in greeting and she stepped forward, nuzzling his leg quietly. It was going to be alright. Working himself up into a tizzy would help no one. He needed to keep it together and - yawn - and... where was she going with that? Oh right, he needed to rest if he was going to rescue Naoto.]

[She looked pooped. When he stepped back to let her in, he'd come to realize how unused to being alone in this apartment he was. A part of him was hoping she'd crash here for the night, but the rest of him knew he shouldn't be feeling as lame as he did now.]

Long day, huh...? I could, I-I dunno, make somethin'...

[But he sounded listless. He just wanted to do -something- right now.]

[She shook her head. It wouldn't be necessary; somehow, she's still getting free handouts, but she's only been accepting them from the people remaining sane.]

[She trotted around him once more and then headed over to the couch. Hopping up, she immediately plopped onto her stomach, paws dangling over the edge as she laid her head down, body curled to fit in place. Her ears flicked at a flap and a crow landed on her head. Well, if it isn't the little birdie who asked her to come by.]

[He shuts the door as Amaterasu makes herself at home, not that he minded. With the protestors and the need for individuals with some form of calming wavelength needed on the clock, he could only imagine how busy she was lately. Save for Poe being a little chatty now and then, this apartment was usually very quiet, even with both occupants and the cat and bird home. But now... it was almost deafeningly quiet.

He decided to wordlessly join her, taking a seat in unoccupied cushion space and absently reaching to ruffle the scruff. He turned his eyes to the floor. His eyes felt hot... and they hurt a little.]

...I can't just sit here and do nothing, damn it! The hell do they even mean 'be calm'?! How the hell do they expect me to stay calm about this!?

[Her eyes opened and tail flopped again, but just a bit. Amaterasu looked so prepared to fall asleep there; it was comfortable, but the stress was too high in the room. Kanji is passionate when it comes to someone he carers much about, hm?]

[She placed a paw on his knee when his voice rose. Poe fluttered back at the outburst, perching on the back of the couch. Amaterasu shifted and woofed, ears pulled back. Yes, she knows; she can be impatient too when someone's in danger, but did he even have an idea where her and the others were taken?]

[The muscle in his thighs tensed, ready to have him stand again and charge right out the door. But the heavy paw on his leg stopped him, and he finally lifted his head. He really didn't know a damn thing about where the others might be, and heading out again would only exhaust and frustrate him further.

And maybe it was the fact that he didn't sleep last night. Maybe it was because he felt he could tell Amaterasu just about anything. Whatever it was, it drove him to shake his head, and finally look back at her.]

I could've stopped this... but I know there ain't much I can do to change it now. I just-

...If those assholes so much as bent a hair on her head, or even think about hurting Yako-san or Cupid, they're in deep shit. I'm swearin' to that.

[She sat up as he spoke, staring at him long and hard. She would look passed his anger for now; the kidnappers would be punished accordingly. Still, he was ready to run out and that would not do. He could not exhaust himself; not yet.]

[Amaterasu leaned closer and licked his cheek. Once, then twice, and then she settled back to nuzzle him.]

[It was no small comfort. His upper body turned as he hugged the wolf around the neck, inadvertently granting himself a bit of fuzz therapy. He sighed, attempted just a small smile, even if he didn't really feel it.]

Y'want me to sit tight, huh...? I know. Everybody that's hit me up today's told me that. 'Don't rush out, don't be stupid'.

But it's hard. It's like... this happened before, y'know. I wanted to run right out and make things right, but I had to be prepared or I'd get in over my head, and then who'd go and do it?

[Amaterasu managed to give him some semblance of a hug back. It's really her paw coming up to rest on his shoulder and her giving him more cheek nuzzles. You know she would, but her paws are aching. Literally, she's close to just falling asleep on him.]

[He just had to think a little like Senpai. He knew the people in the TV world were in danger, yet he wanted to treat each mission with caution and make sure everyone was prepared. Maybe... maybe he should take a page out of that guy's book. He knew most of the people taken. They're tough. He just had to be ready in time for a rescue.

But Amaterasu was feeling a little heavy. He let her go and scratched her ears with a nod.]

...But I guess I talked yer ear off enough. Y'look tired as hell. Go ahead n' crash here.

[Nooo, she could listen longer. She just - yawned widely - maybe she did need a nap, but she pawed at Kanji's lap again and huffing slightly. She couldn't leave him sitting here completely bothered like this.]

Heh... don't gimme that, Ammy. You're tired, so get some sleep. Maybe your sleepin' will lemme catch up on some, too.

[Yawning was getting contagious, and Chika'd said to get some shut-eye for when those kidnapped were found. No use rescuing anyone when you're dead on your feet...]

[... She grunted. Fine, she would sleep. There were still others to visit, but if she didn't sleep, she wouldn't be able to help either. Amaterasu pawed the couch. Would she be sleeping here or somewhere else?]

[...Blink.] Mm?

[Eyebrows low as he takes abit to think- pawing at the couch-]

Uhh... the couch not good? I mean, there's my bed... you could always take that.

[Her ears rose. Hm? She could sleep next to him? That might be comfortable for the both of them...]

I mean, well... bed's big enough. Iza's usually camps out with me, but I don't think she'll mind another.

I-if that's okay.

[Amterasu stared, but then nodded, her tail swishing to one side. Just fine with her.]

[Then he'd shift to get up. His eyes couldn't help but stray to the door in the hall he knew led to an unoccupied bedroom, his mind then going on to what he knew had to be an awful place... she had to be sleeping there right now. Damn it...]

Door's on the left. I got an extra pillow if y'want it... [Spoken mainly just to hear himself talk right now.]

[This doesn't go unnoticed by Amaterasu. She shook her head at the pillow; she'd be find without it. Thank you for the offer though. There's a step to the left, but she paused to wait for him.]

[He pushed himself to his feet and followed after her. A little nap... maybe just a short one. He'll feel a little better afterward and then he can figure out if he missed something important.]

[Amaterasu trotted along after him to the room. The bed does look big enough and she'll curl herself on the unoccupied side at the foot while-- oh, there's the cat.]

Uh- don't mind her. [Absently throwing his communicator and things onto the bedstand. Iza gave a short 'mrr' as she was woken up, unfocused green eyes turned toward the much larger wolf. With a wide, fangy yawn, she was all ready hopping up and looking for a very fluffy spot on Ammy's back to curl up onto. Takuto's pup, Firecracker, had her so used to dogs by now, but this one... this one was much different, and made her think of her own mama.]

O...kay... she was in a weird mood earlier today, but I guess she got over it.

[Mind her? She loves cats! Amaterasu watched with some amusement as Iza hopped onto her back and settled herself on the biggest patch of white near the scruff of the goddess's neck and curled up. Her tail swung over the covers as she gave the kitten a nudge with her nose.]
