Video | June 6th | Late Evening

[The camera shakes violently as it clicks on, panning around for a moment before landing on the disgruntled face of Asuka.]

I don’t care who sees this, but someone damn well better get me some new clothes! I’m not sitting around in this torn up plug suit just because some stupid machine decided to bring me to this stupid place!

[She shakes the device a little, causing the camera to wheel once again.]

And if someone doesn’t bring me clothes RIGHT. NOW. I’m gonna start kicking all of your asses the moment I see each and every one of you!

[It’s obvious that she is upset as she curses to herself about stupid people and stupid machines and stupid MP Evas, the camera still rolling through her muttered tantrum, the sounds of things being knocked over underlying her words until the camera itself is suddenly thrown and turns off with the impact of hitting the wall.]

[He's not sure how well he likes the sound of that 'oh', though before he can even begin to figure out why that might be, he hears the grumble of her stomach.]

Er... do you have any food? I could make you something if you're hungry.

[Oh God, she thought he was never going to ask. She sighs heavily.]

I think there's some stuff in the fridge. You should get me something to drink too, while you're at it.

[As much as he was expecting it, he kind of hoped that she wouldn't make him cook. Still, he doesn't feel like he's in any position to argue.]

Right, I'll... get right on that.

[And to the kitchen he goes.]

[Calls out after him after a few moments.]

Shinji! Make enough for Chika too, she's on her way over!

[Darn it, Asuka, he's already having trouble getting everything done with just one free hand, and now you're adding on another person? No matter, though, he wasn't too far into the process that it would be a hassle adding on a little more.]

Got it.

[Well, it took Chika a few minutes longer than she thought it was going to take, but soon enough she was at Casualty Communal, standing outside Asuka's door with the SEES basket in hand. She knocked lightly on the door.]

Hey Asuka! I'm here!

[Hearing the knock, Asuka springs to her feet and saunters over, opening it with a smile.]

Chika! Come on in. Shinji's in the kitchen. He should have some food ready soon.

[Her stomach growls in agreement.]

[Chika smiles as Asuka opens the door, and she comes in without much more prompting... before blinking a bit at Asuka.]

Wait... Shinji? You mean Shinji Ikari?

[Wow. That... well, it could be a different one. But somehow Chika doubted it.

... Anyway, better do what she came here for. Chika moves and hands the basket over to Asuka.]

Anyway, here's the basket. It only has one change of clothes and pajamas, but it's better than nothing.

[And then Chika notices exactly what Asuka was wearing.]

... And wow, no wonder why you were so loud about needing new clothes. I wouldn't want to only have that even if it wasn't damaged like that.

[Asuka looks down at herself and then back up at Chika with a small smile.]

Ahaha. It's not so bad when it's not all torn up. It's actually really comfortable...

[She takes the basket gratefully and starts heading to the bedroom to change.]

...yeah, it's Shinji Ikari. He told me he knows you.

[And now time for a little yelling.]

Hey Shinji! Chika's here!

[Disappears to change.]

[It had taken Shinji far longer than he would have liked to get the food prepared, and after a while he just set the ice aside in order to free up his other hand to help get everything done. ~~Cooking one handed is hard Asuka why did you make him do this~~ Luckily, it seemed like the bleeding had stopped by that point. By the time Asuka alerted him to Chika's arrival, he was putting the finishing touches on everything and arranging the meal on a couple of dishes for the girls.]

Ah-! Just a minute.

[Quickly, he finishes everything up and brings the two plates out.]

[Chika didn't have enough time to really respond to what Asuka was saying, but well... wow. This really was just odd. This wasn't how she had imagined talking to Shinji again... but that was really her fault more than anything. She blinks a bit when she sees him coming in and just putting down two plates, especially since it looked like he got punched. But well... yeah.]

Hi there, Ikari-san. It's been a while since we talked, hasn't it?

It really has. [His expression softened a bit, showing a little less stress as he sees Chika. He looked a tiny bit lost for a second as to where to put the meal, before deciding that Asuka would probably opt for having it in the living room - it was far more comfortable than the dining area, anyway.]

How have you been, Daimon-san?

[Chika sighed, sitting down on one of the chairs.]

I'm... well, I'm alright. Kinda pissed that after finally getting enough staff at the Arcade to go on missions that BREW sends my partner home. But other than that I'm alright.

What about you?

[He recalled seeing the post she had made regarding that particular incident. He gave her a sympathetic look as he set the second plate down in front of her.]

I've... been worse. [He's been better, too - FAR better in fact - but wow he is not going to say something like that in earshot of Asuka.] I've been meeting a lot of really kind people lately, and it is nice to have someone I know show up. [His words are honest, despite the greeting she gave him.]

[Okay. Chika can't help but blink at that. That was an interesting way to put it.]

... I guess whatever happened between you two is pretty complicated, isn't it. I was kinda getting the impression from Asuka that you two don't really get along all that much.

[It's at this point that Asuka comes out of the bedroom wearing the baggy clothing instead of her plug suit, and looking a thousand times more comfortable because of it.]

Aahhhh. So much better.

[She flops on the couch and reaches for her food, starting to eat without even a 'thank you' or anything to Shinji, oops.]

[Chika smiles as she sees Asuka sit down and start eating, though it does turn to a bit of a frown when she realizes that she's not even thanking Shinji for the food. But well... she didn't know what exactly these two were to each other, so it wasn't like she could say anything.

Either way, she'd start eating soon. But first...]

Thanks for the food, Ikari-san. But... aren't you hungry too?

[He isn't too concerned about getting some kind of gratitude from Asuka - his role as chef of the apartment back home meant it rarely happened in the first place. At Chika's question, he simply shakes his head a little bit. If the punch he received hadn't killed any appetite he may have had, well...]

It's all right, I ate earlier. I'll just... leave you two alone and clean up the kitchen.

Tch! [Asuka frowns at Shinji.]

Did you really make that much of a mess that you can't sit for a while?

[Okay, so maybe she simultaneously does and does not want Shinji there. Is that so weird?]

[Yes Asuka, it was kinda weird. But well, okay, whatever.

Though really, Shinji didn't need to get up that fast.]

Yeah, don't worry about it right now. Stay with us an talk. I mean, we just started catching up.

[She giggles, giving him a smile.]

Besides, I don't mind helping with the cleanup. You did make me dinner, after all.

[Mixed signals, Asuka. This is why they had trouble getting along in the first place. He wasn't too warm to the idea of sitting with the two of them while they ate, considering he hadn't made any for himself, but he wasn't about to argue with the both of them, either.]

A-alright, I'll stay... [Wow, super awkward. Nevertheless, he takes a seat with the two of them.]

[Might be mildly displeased by the fact that she's pretty sure Shinji is staying because of Chika and not her, but... whatever. She continues eating, letting out a contented noise after a moment.]

That's one thing Shinji's good at. He makes great food.

[Geez, Chika can already tell what a minefield she stepped into here. But it wasn't like she could just... ignore them after this. Not after everything she decided.

... And besides, maybe Shinji and Asuka will work through their problems eventually. At least right now, she could try the food.

... After a bite, well, she definitely needed to agree.]

Wow. This is pretty good Ikari-san!

[She takes another bite, before turning over to Asuka.]

Hey Asuka? While you were on the tour, did you find out if you were a meister or weapon yet?

[She probably did, but well, if for some reason she hadn't, that was something else the two of them were going to have to take care of.]

Thank you. [That was directed at both of them, but since Chika was the only one who actually stated a compliment for the food, it probably sounded like Shinji was thanking her exclusively. Oops.

He can't help but be a little curious as to what Asuka is, so he quiets down when the topic is brought up.]

[Shoots a glare at Shinji. Wow, way to pay more attention to this other girl than her. What an ass.

With a huff, she pushes her plate away, half-finished, and shrugs at Chika.]

I guess I'm a weapon. I dunno. Sounds pretty boring.
