♍01 | Video |June 7, Early Morning
[ The video feed opens, but shows only the sunrise. Pretty, isn't it? The scorching rays are only just beginning to heat the city up, and there's still the slight darkness looming over the city. The view is offered from the 13th floor of Casualty Communal. After a few moments, Kanaya speaks. ]
Good morning, Death City. I must admit that a view such as this, one of the sunrise, is a most pleasant one to accompany my first morning here. Likely like a handful of other residents, I find the sunrise to be a beautiful, pleasant beginning to the day. Others may view it as a disappointing end to the night. Neither view is wrong, but at the very least for those who may miss it today, it is here.
[ After a moment, she turns the video to face herself, and she's sitting on one of her room's chairs on her balcony. A jade-green Virgo symbol (♍) is clearly visible on her black short-sleeve shirt, and is one of only three things that break away from her monochrome colors; the other two being the yellows (not whites) of her eyes and her horns. The residents of Death City have seen a troll before, though only those who are more familiar with them (or trolls themselves) will notice that her gray skin is notably lighter than the others here. ]
Good morning to each and every one of you. To those I already know, I look forward to our time here. To those I do not yet know, I am Kanaya Maryam. [ A smile. ] Sunrise or not, may you all have a bright, pleasant day.
[ She turns the feed back to the sunrise for a few moments, offering the beautiful sight once more... before she ends it. There was no sense in beginning anyone's day anything but pleasantly. ]

[ She pauses, though, thoughtfully. She wondered... ] Though, as I recall seeing, hot tubs are one of the offerings of the luxury condominiums here in Death City. Such things could be utilized without the heat for aquatic relief.
[She shrugs a little, rolling her eyes and fanning herself idly.]
Yeah, I see those plaices. Been thinkin' aboat lookin' into one.
[ A little nod. ] I wish you luck, then. I imagine such relief would be a welcome change to have available.
[She shrugs, ruffling her hair.]
Yeah I mean the tub's awright but it ain't what I'd call 'roomy'.
At the very least, on days where the heat and sun try your patience, know that she is suffering worse than you are; what with all that hair of hers. [ She means the Condesce, of course. ]
And ah, yes, I have come to realize that myself as well. It is unfortunately quite cramped.
[She shrugs and makes a vague gesture with one hand.]
Yeah, but hey. Soon as I get a betta plaice I'm shore it'll be bigger. Betta be bigger for what they charge us.
Considering the price, I would think it unfair if the ammenities were identical or shrank.
[She's a ninja.]
Well whiff how these motherglubbers been actin', it wouldn't surprise me atoll.
[ Yep, definitely impressed. ]
Ah, yes, what with the recent announcement by extremists? You have a point. Perhaps preparation to counteract them might- [ No, sorry, not rambling down that road, so she stops. ] We shall hope they do nothing more than talk.
[It is a pretty amazing feat- but thank goodness for Aranea's help.]
Exactly. Them suckas ain't reely seamin' like they're all too happy aboat us bein' here an all so I ain't countin' on too much generosity from 'em.
But they ain't all talk, I'll give 'em that. They already done kidnapped some motherglubbers and tried to burn some of the buildins down.
[ But at those second words, she stares for a moment. ] I am currently inclined to believe that these individuals should be done away with before they can do further harm.
[Meenah lets out an explosive sigh at the last bit, rolling her eyes some.]
Tell me aboat it! But naaahhhhh. We ain't allowed to krill nomoby while we're here- ain't that somefin? They can burn our fuckin' hives and respiteblocks down, kidnap us and waterebber else, but we can't beat the carp out of 'em for it.
[ She shakes her head at the response, though, and seems amused as she responds. Meenah, you're preachin' to the choir here. ]
Typically, limbs are not at all vital for survival. Given that they are used to cause chaos, disabling them as such would solve the problem entirely without any loss of life.
[A shrug.]
We can't do nofin unless they attack us first again. It's so coddamn stupid.
[ She pauses, thoughtfully. ]
So when we are backed into a corner, only then may we strike back.
[A grumble.]
Moray or less, yeah. It fuckin' sucks.
[ A shake of her head. ]
That is, indeed, an unfortunate predicament.
[She shrugs, rolling her eyes.]
Well, what can we do, huh?
