[Psii has never shown face on network before. Has concluded doing so now is marginally less embarrassing than having to describe similarities between self and imposters, as would be necessary to supply context for text post. This way, other imports to Death City can see mismatched eyes and mustard-yellow t-shirt (this one with honeycomb pattern) for selves, and draw appropriate conclusion.]

Don't know exactly how attackers got powers that rightfully belong to self. But am sorry for trouble they caused.

Does anyone know how they were able to mimic?

[private to Amaterasu]

Want to level up. Would you like to go on mission?

Oh. I'm sorry.

[And now she felt like a heel for asking. She really put her foot in her mouth, didn't she?]

Not much different from this one. Well, in geography anyway. Most countries were the same and there was a Nevada back home too but no place called Death City. And folks back home had gotten over the witch hunting thing hundreds of years ago.

[The real answer to that is 'no'. Otherwise, she wouldn't exist. But it's not exactly an answer she can give.]

Well, it's more that folks stopped believing in witches and realized the things that went on in those times were wrong. Lots of innocent people were accused of witchcraft and tortured or killed. Tied up and thrown into the sea, crushed under heavy boards and stones, burned at the stake, hanged.

Such torture was common in your world? [She frowns but supposes it might not be that surprising with how he had been enslaved.] And historically, 'witch' originated as a derogatory term for a female healer. It's not as if they have green skin and warts as fiction makes them out.

And all of this killing was just accepted? [Even after what he's already told her, it's pretty disturbing to hear.]

No, that's just a stereotype about witches thanks to TV and the movies. A mistaken one, along with the idea that they're ugly old hags in league with the devil.

Broken? It sure as shootin' sounds broken if folks thought it was just okay to kill others like that! [She might possibly be missing what he really means though.]

Well, the ideas about witches are mostly unfavorable and untrue, like having no reflection in mirrors because they have no soul.

[And he's talking to one now although Lily wouldn't admit it...]

SS? [A friend of his, she assumes...]

[He might notice a hesitation as she decides how much to say.
...There weren't really witches who could use magic. As I said, it originally referred to female healers. Nowadays, it's associated with those who practice the religion of Wicca.

Oh. Disciple's husband?

Practices vary but the Wiccans I knew were peace-and-nature-loving. They liked to gather to thank the Goddesses and eat baked goods. Celebrate holidays and positive things. [She'll omit that Bronwyn's coven helped her exorcise demons a couple of times.]

[She shakes her head.] They might perform certain rituals they refer to as spells or magic in hopes of influencing things. But it's not as if they can fly around on brooms or point a wand and make things instantly change as the movies might have you believe. [Magic is usually much more subtle in her world.]

Sounds like it was a musical. I haven't seen many movies myself but since they're fiction, they're not likely to reflect reality well.

[Video] Hmm... I'm running short on ideas for this thread. Should we wrap it up soon?

Oh. You mean something like polygamy...? [Well, this is a bit awkward. She's had a few boyfriends over the years but one at a time is considered the decent way to go about it.]
