[[shakes his head slightly]] That isn't something that... [[he trails off]] Just stay with me... and we'll call it even, okay?

I can try. But you've gotta work with me on that as well, kay? One day you'll tell me the whole story.

[[There was a very faint smile]] You'll think I'm crazy if I do...

[He snorts.]

You're talking to a guy who is half lion and half human and has been dragging into another world to fight withes and mutated monsters using weapons that are also people. Try me.

[[covers a soft laugh at that]] When you put it that way... [[trails off with a faint smile.

It's still hard to even say, though and it takes him a moment]]

Sennen Items. Two of them, the Puzzle and the Ring, have spirits inside them, one the spirit of a Pharaoh who's name was lost in time, the other, a thief...

The thief sounds more useful. What does he do, come out and steal something for you every time you solve his puzzle?

[[a long pause]] He steals souls. Traps them inside inanimate objects. [[says very quietly]]

Ah. [Oh. Slowly things were starting to make sense.]

The Ring... its something my father gave me. He called it a good luck charm. Neither of us had any idea... [[he trails off a moment]]

It wasn't until I met Yuugi-kun that it started making sense. Seeing the Puzzle... it being close enough was enough so I could hear him. He said... he said it was because of my wish... because I wanted everyone to stay and play games with me forever... that was why he sealed them all into their figures. It was his "rent."

As rent..? That's bullshit! Sounds more like he took some random thought of you and twisted it into something nasty.

[[a small, miserable nod]]

What happened then?

Yuugi-kun and everyone came over and the Ring took over and tried to kill them to get the Puzzle. [[He looked down at the scar on back of his left hand]] It wound up being a battle between the Pharaoh's spirit and the Ring, with Yuugi-kun and everyone being the pieces in the game. Somehow... somehow I was able to wake up and gain control of my hand... so I could help fight against him as well.

[He doesn't miss that look and his eyes narrow. Was that where it came from?]

Somehow that doesn't sound like all ya needed to do was to take the ring of and toss it into a drawer.

There was no way I could... [[Again, he reaches up to touch where his scars lay]] He said I'd be his host for forever, and that I couldn't take the Ring off ever again....

[[There's a very awkward moment before Bakura lets go of Leo's hand to pull off his sweater, unbuttoning the shirt underneath enough to show off the 5 puncture scars in a half circle in his chest.]]

[He sucks in his breath and curses.]

It has pendents [[explains as he re-buttons his shirt]] 5 of them that hang down from the main circle of it...

Fuck, don't tell me it tried to hold on?! [Great, now he has that wonderful mental image of a cross of a facehugger and a golden ring burying into the others chest.]
