[Aqua was sitting by a window, with her knees draw up and the communicator balanced on top. She leaned back against the wall, posture relaxed.]

I've been wondering, does anyone come from a world with magic? If so, would you mind telling me a little about it?

[She reaches out a hand to steady the communicator when it slides a little to the left before righting it again.]

I specialized in magic back home, so I'm curious about what kinds of magic exists in other worlds.

I found a copy of the Grimm's Fairy Tales in the library. [She smiled.] I really enjoyed it; thank you for recommending it to me.

Not really. We just considered those kinds of abilities to be attacks instead of magic.

Yes. Things got a bit crazy for a while so I didn't get a chance to earlier.

It's really interesting though. I think some of those stories actually happened to real people where I came from.

Was it? We had quite a few basic spells that were specifically meant to slow down time or affect gravity. But it isn't until we move into the more advanced spells that they become more effective.

...you wouldn't happen to be from Colette's world, would you?

That's interesting. In a lot of the books I've read they're said to look different and only disguise themselves so they look human.

[She couldn't help it. When Clare said that she laughed.] Earthy. I guess...that's one way to describe him.

[She shook her head with a chuckle. Earthy. Oh, if Terra ever came here she'd have to find a chance to call him that at least once.]

It was a bit hard to get used to at first, and I had to adjust the way I fought but it's not such a big deal now.

And I'm sure there must be something special about you too, Clare. Otherwise why would BREW have brought you here? You may not have magic, but I'm sure BREW must have seen something in you.

I haven't asked his name, but he has blonde hair and blue eyes.

What kind of powers were these?

[She bristled.]

I wouldn't sacrifice anyone.

That makes sense. You'd have to know the make up of a lot of things to make it work in every circumstance though, wouldn't you?

[She blinked at that last part, though because, that? She hadn't known.] Commander Mustang?

[Her reply is a low chuckle.]

How about leaving others behind, then? Each act of 'good' is paid with somebody else's 'bad'.

Eeeeh really? Huh, well they're not like that in Shin Makoku. [He takes a moment to pause and think over it again just to make sure.] Yeah, I think I would have noticed if they were just disguising them like that.

But it could just be the type of demons that come from that world? Aaaa I mean, well until I met them, I always thought that demons were those big red guys with a tail and horns coming out of their heads. [He laughed sheepishly at that.] Boy was I wrong.

Yep! Alchemists typically have to study a lot to even get remotely close to being officially certified.

Oh, you know him? I suppose he's a pretty big name in Death City though, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised... But, yeah, he was an alchemist. I don't think he can use it here anymore, but if you asked him, he could probably give a better description of what it's like.

Oh, you mean Mithos then.

Well....I didn't need to eat or sleep, and I could see and hear really well! And I got wings, those were first. Later it was....a little harder, I lost my voice, and I couldn't feel anything. But Lloyd helps me, apparently, so it's okay. I just figured....that's what it means, to become an Angel.

That's right. She's already informed you regarding some of what I've said, I take it?

[Now that's interesting.

...She seems like a pretty busy gal, so things going a bit crazy for her isn't surprising. But those stories actually happening?]

Really... and what makes you say that?

[She tilts her head.]

For one, they had the same name as some of the princesses and the stories are actually similar to what I saw happening to some of them.

You could do that? That's amazing!

Then where did you learn about it?

Anything I valued was rescued from the oncoming destruction. There's nothing to be sorry for.

That's right. For example, I'm not compatible with earth based magic, so I've never been able to master even basic earth based spells.

It's fine. It's not fair if I'm the only one asking questions, right? There is magical energy inside of us, and we draw on it to power the spells.

And can a Summoner make a pact with more than one Spirit at once as long as that Spirit hasn't made a contract with anyone else?

[Her heart dropped. Terra...

In the next moment, she tightened her jaw, narrowing her eyes.]

That doesn't mean they'll be left behind. I wouldn't abandon my friends so easily.

Maybe. I wouldn't be surprised at all if something like that would be different across different worlds.

[Though something he said gave her pause.] You said 'that world'. Is it not the world you came from?

I'm in the Watch, so I've spoken to him a few times.

Then I might ask him one of these days. Maybe when he's not as busy.

Probably. I'll have to ask him for his name later.

[That sounds more like a curse.]

That seems like an awfully high price to pay to become an angel...
