I have a question for those that have been here for a considerable amount of time: Just how frequently does BREW bring in new faces?

[ he doesn't really have a clue, considering he's only been around for two cycles of them. ]

Other than this, I have been reading up on a few things regarding human culture. Actually, I was looking for something to perhaps encourage more park visitors, and thus I began reading about different times of events. Presently, I'm open to a few ideas, if anyone feels like providing them.

[Psii is as ready as he's likely to become, and is waiting for the knock. He opens the door of the human cubicle almost immediately. He is not bloodstained anymore, but he is still unsteady.

[Sollux. He says the name to himself, like a secret, though it is not. It would be good to know him. Hopefully, he is happier.]

[Psii would laugh, if he weren't sure it would sound awful. Instead, he simply steps back into the hiveblock.

He is both glad to be free of her, and misses her. It is disturbing.]

[ Signless follows, but tugs his friend along. at least to sit on the couch. even though it hasn't nearly been as long for him, Signless has missed his friend. he feels immensely complete again, knowing that all of his loved ones are now near. ]

I know very little, actually. Dolorosa and Disciple have barely said anything about what happens after. Their pain, however, was clearly etched on their features. They have been through a lot. Too much.

[Psii is used to not caring where his hardware goes, and follows along. The novelty is that this is pleasant, sitting by Signless again. Feeling accepted.

Accumulating data is what he does, even in his limited state, and he has already scoured the primitive network for his friends, has seen that SS has been in this strange place for almost a perigree, and that Dii is here as well.

the thought is nauseating and even as mild tempered as he is, Signless' hand balls into a fist. he's not angry at his friend. oh no. the mental state is clearly the result of that she-witch. because of a system he had so desperately wanted to change... a broken system. it's infuriating, how much has happened to his loved ones. just because they followed him. ]

[SS is correct. But was so long ago, Psii can hardly access the memories of outrage, of times he'd rebel outright. There were systems in place to curb that. He learned very quickly to bury everything, and snake himself deeper into the system. Find better ways, obfuscate, deflect. Send his mind away when she wanted to taunt him. He was the ship, did not need to feel troll emotions.

Listen. Knew the risks from the beginning. Would still choose to follow you, if had to choose now. You were right. What happened doesn't change fact.

[SS truly has not changed. Still has uncanny ability to know right thing to say or do. Psii returns the hug less awkwardly this time. Is easier to say the rest from this position.]

Sometimes thought would be best to pilot ship into nearest sun. Could have hacked failsafes. But couldn't bring self to do it.

[ uncanny? he'd just call it paying attention to detail. to read someone.

but for the moment he doesn't let his dear friend go. the thought of suicide is disturbing. but Signless probably would have rather have died than live on. he has no room to judge. any of it.

but he bites his tongue. people are just leaving him speechless left and right today. ]

[Psii lifts his head. Contact is unexpectedly pleasant, but there is reassurance, and then there is clinging like wiggler.]

What is expected here? Do not have much to offer world of pink aliens at war.

[ once more the troll finds himself shaking his head. ]

We are family. Family is meant to share each others burdens. I just can't find any words to soothe you.

[ and that distresses him a little. because he SHOULD be able to find something to ease away all of his best friend's pain. ]

That being said. There is only one expectation here: live. Not everyone here fights. It is not demanded of us to.

Do not think there are words to accomplish that, but. Can take care of self, SS.

Can help you not carry your burdens alone, if you will allow.

[A pat to Signless's shoulder, and Psii moves away. That was not so difficult. He thinks can remember how to do that.]

Why would they be so generous?

My guess is that because Death the Kidd didn't actually mean to activate BREW at all.

BREW is security nightmare. Did not realize world was so primitive.

He's also putting off asking another of his queries, because is embarrassed about it. Nutritional intake will be necessary, but Psii has not consumed real food in sweeps.]

[ Signless just smiles. he knows what a prideful hacker his friend is. ]

I don't think it is as primitive as it is different. They have some devices that are beyond our understanding, after all.

Now... Have you eaten yet?

[ he doesn't ask this because of any sixth sense. Signless asks because he had been starving upon arrival. ]

[He blinks after saying this. Is first time he has used word 'my' since being connected to ship.

And Psii thinks, not for the first time, that there is chance SS has tinge of yellow in blood, to be able to follow his train of thought that well.]

Have not. Am not sure what to eat. Do squishy aliens--humans. Do humans eat same food as trolls?

Not everything in the world revolves around codes and numbers.

[ just chuckling a bit and he stands, offering a hand. ]

Since I doubt you brought anything here for someone to cook, we'll have to go out. Humans do not eat grubs, for the record.

But all of life can be explained with correct codes and numbers.

[He thinks sounded a bit like old self there. He hesitates, then takes SS's hand and stands as well, leaning on his friend somewhat.]
