[The video switches on to Stein in his usual place sitting backwards in his chair with his arms draped over the back, he looks more tired than usually but given the circumstances combined with his already hectic schedule it's no surprise.]

First of all I'd like to thank all of you for holding with us in these tougher times and assure you we're doing what we can to get to the bottom of all of this mayhem. But that's not what this is about today.

[He pauses for a moment, turning the screw in his head with a slow creaking tick.]

Interest in a particular Meister ability known as Soul Menace has grown, and I think it may be time to bow to those requests. I'm going to be starting a small private class for Meisters who believe they have what it takes to learn and master the technique. For those of you unaware, Soul Menace is a technique that uses self resonance to push your own wavelength into your opponent as an internal attack.

I've already selected a small group to start off with including Neji Hyuuga, Miles Edgeworth, Mello and Bakura if all of you are interested. Anyone else is free to express your interest here and I'll either accept or deny you based on your soul and whether or not I want you in my class. I'll need you to tell me why you want to learn the technique and what makes you think you'd be suitable for the class.

In addition, I'm opening a slot for one weapon to attend the class as well. The requirements for this position are higher as only someone who believes they have the ability to achieve resonance easily with others would be useful, myself in particular as you'll be used as an example to show the differences in the technique between partnered and unpartnered. I'll need a list of all the Meisters you've resonated with in the past and if unavailable why you think you'd be suited for the position.

[He doesn't believe he needs to specify which Bakura, it's a Meister ability after all.]

On another matter I'd like to call the attention of the trolls here in Death City. As most of you know I've provided a substance to act as a substitute for sopor slime to aid in your sleeping patterns. Recently I've made a new one that hopefully has improved effects, but it still may not be as proficient as desired. It's to that length that I need one of you to volunteer to assist me in experiments. I need to compare what makes a human pass out to how much of the same drug will make a troll pass out and whether or not it'll effect sleeping patterns. The experiments will basically be you offering yourself to test different sleep drugs to see at what point they make you drowsy as compared to their effect on humans.

These experiments will take place in my lab and I can guarantee your safety throughout them, this is just so that I can develop a more efficient sleep aid. Though as some of you may already know, Condesce is living here with me in my lab. Meenah, Signless, unfortunately I'll have to request that the two of you don't volunteer for this as it'll be more of a headache to keep her behaving. As for the rest of you I can promise she won't be a problem.

[And really, why not kill a few birds with one stone here?]

Both the class and the troll volunteer will receive daily free cake if desired.

I'm not sure how many I've resonated with, but it's quite a few, at least 10 or so, including both Mello and that-- [[a pause. Calling him 'that jerk' would not... really... be a good idea]] the other Bakura. [[That feels just... so weird to say. So very weird.]]

I never said anything about siding with her as I don't approve of her unnecessary violent tendencies. The entire reason I'm keeping her with me is to make sure she doesn't cause trouble with any of you.

I've worked with a few Meisters before. [Let's see...] There was Auron, Shirogane, Takuto, Chika, Hanabi, Tenten and Demona. [She paused.] The last one was the only one I couldn't resonate with at all.

There were also others from when I was a Meister, but most of them have been returned already.

[Wow, now that she actually thinks about it, a lot of her friends were gone, huh...]

The group as it stands is already rather versatile, how do you fair when resonating with Meisters who are by normal standards considered volatile or unstable?

I wasn't aware other Meister abilities could be learnt.

It's not easy and not something normally offered to guests who still have to get used to the one that BREW supplies them with, but it is possible. I possess a number of different abilities myself, it all just comes with learning and training. Some people are cut out for some while others just aren't compatible with certain abilities.

That's what I said. There is a single position open for a weapon but that's more of an assistant job than it is learning.

I would like to attend the class due to the increasing necessity of defending the city, as well as the importance of responding vigilantly and sensitively to the dangerous, angry masses. A diplomatic, firm handle on the situation is required, and in my experience over the last few days, one has not been effectively employed.

Well I certainly would be interested in attending a class like this, but it sounds like you will have a bias. Weeding out the unworthy does make sense.

If it helps you at all, I am somewhat new here and I already know how to use my Meister ability. Learning how to be able to be more effective in a war seems like a good idea.

It's supposed to be a selective class for a reason, attempting to teach all the Meisters would be a waste of time as 95% of them or more would fail.

Not yet, I'm waiting on deciding that until I have an idea of how many and who will be attending. The results should be announced within the week. Though there is a chance the classes themselves will take place in the evenings since that's when I have free time, though if that interferes with schedules we may be able to work around a compromise.

I beg to differ. I could get Sollux to agree if I need to go to him directly, I simply wanted to give others the opportunity to volunteer. Besides, so long as she has the promise of her pool coming Condesce should behave herself well enough.

[Stein doesn't even bother responding over the communicator, he's annoyed after a certain conversation as things tend to go with that particular little girl and handling Condesce is usually a good enough distraction.

So he wanders through the lab until he finds her to give her her reply.]

I can't tell you what your ability is, that's not how Soul Perception works. You'll have to find out through training and missions, and from there we can improve upon it as necessary.

[Knowing that there was a good chance she'd be there for the next few hours (if she hadn't already) he falls into the habit of pulling a spare brush out of his lab coat and assisting with the monstrous mass she calls hair.]

I never claimed to be your master, even corrected Aranea when she implied as such. That's more trouble than I'm willing to go through but I had to be sure they knew there wouldn't be any problems during the experiments. Though it only provoked the argumentative nature of one who already disproves of my ways, hopefully it'll have the desired effect on the others.

[He doesn't bother hiding the annoyance in his tone, but it's gone just as quickly as it came. He wouldn't have gotten so far if he didn't learn to just ignore minor things that like and it always helped to keep his hands busy. Usually cutting something open, but with that temporarily unavailable the mass in front of him works just as well.]
