I'm sure we all have a 'bucket' list of things we'd like to do sometime in our lives before we die. This place certainly gives us opportunities to cross items off it, such as getting to visit other continents.

On the other hand, it also presents us with things we'd never believed would ever happen to us - the whole manner of our arrival and subsequent submersion into this war aside.

[Akiha is back from her mission in Brazil and she's not terribly happy with how it went.]

For example, I can now claim that I have been eaten by a giant slug. Allow me to cross that off my list. I've always wanted to have to kill something while inside its stomach and then cut my way out. [/sarcasm]

That said, can anyone recommend a hair stylist here? I need to take a few inches off thanks to stomach acid. [Or whatever it was.]

[Coming in, Akiha? Because Sion is still a little bumsore about the whole thing. You know, using another weapon when Sion thinks she fits the bill perfectly fine and totally doesn't need to be supplemented.

But she's waiting, laying on her bed and reading a book.]

[Akiha doesn't let herself into Sion's room right away after getting back to Death City. No, she spends quite the bit of time in the shower, washing and scrubbing herself with her own soap and using the shampoo she owned instead of the kind she had to settle with in Brazil.

She's still not happy with the way she physically feels or the state of her hair. Yes, she needed to lose a couple inches to take care of all the damage. Hair damp and clad in a casual outfit with a knit cardigan wrapped about her - it was a lot colder than it had been in Brazil - Akiha grabbed the bag containing the gifts she'd bought her partner before letting herself into Sion's room.

The meister didn't say anything as she dropped the bag on the floor by the bed before she crawled onto the bed and flopped down next to Sion on her side.]

[A pause...a little too long.]

I suppose you prefer your new partner?

[Akiha opened her eyes and rolled back a bit against Sion to see her.]

Hmm? The mission was only one day and what are you talking about? You're my partner.

Good gods, a giant slug? Does the Madness create weird life forms, too, or are those just there on this world-line? I'll tell you, evolution is a pre-tty weird thing, even if it's not really my forte...

As far as I know, the Madness mutates normal animals to monstrosities. The giant slug in question was a kishin egg.

So this is one of those kishin egg things! I did some reading, and they're the... er, souls of humans who have killed, right? That implies that someone's soul wavelength is altered by everything they do, thus making it sort of like a record of the human itself. Oh, do these kishin eggs take on characteristics of their former human form? It could be like that magical girl show...

For that matter, why does Madness mutate normal animals but not mutate humans? We're animals, too!

[He flops dramatically back onto the couch and groans.]

Argh! There are so many questions and not enough money!

[Finally, he drops the communicator on his face and switches the feed off with his forehead.]

Lovely. Best outing of my life. [It seems Akiha is in her own sarcastic of a mood. But then she sighs.] At least I was able to go shopping in Rio. I wouldn't say it was worth being swallowed by a giant slug, but at least it made me feel better.

Are you sure you and Yuri don't want your own adventures in slug diving? There are plenty more of those things on the mission board, and Brazil is an interesting country to visit.

No, thank you. I happen to have a terrible slug allergy. [ Of course not honestly, but still.. ] They really have missions all the way over there though? I've never even been out of Japan back home, let alone all the way over there.

Check out the Mortician's Touch. They've got a heck of a lot of experience when it comes to fixing hair problems that come up due to missions. Trust me. They're lifesavers.

[The name of that salon did not inspire confidence in Akiha, but this is one of the Deathscythes recommending it that obviously takes care of her hair.]

I'll have to look into it. Are they affordable?

Yeah, their basic haircuts are cheap. About D$10 if you're not looking for anything fancy. Add another D$5 if you want a shampoo. The more elaborate you go, the pricier it gets.

Still, they're totally worth the money no matter how much you spend. When I first got here? I had the worst split ends ever.
