[For anyone that happens to know Kotetsu, you might be a little surprised at the serious, almost stern features on his face. He almost looks as if he has something dire and important to say, and in fact, he does. He opens his mouth-- and then closes it, his eyes going wide slightly, and he stares down at his feet as if trying to recall what he was going to say.

Damn it, public speaking wasn't ever his strong point, but Barnaby had taken care of the first message relating to this subject so it was only fair that he'd handle it this time around. Finally, with an assured nod, he lifts his head up.]

Okay, I'd like to have everyone's attention please! I know a lot of people probably know more than enough about those killings going around, and if you haven't, get outta that rock and read yourself a newspaper. It's good for you. I'm not sure how many of you remember the message someone named Barnaby gave about this "serial killer" in the area, but it's related to that.

[Kotetsu takes a deep breath and removes his hat, his expression going serious again.]

They're calling the guy that everyone is looking for "The Crim Cutter". But that's not his name. His name is Lunatic. He's from my world, and from the looks of it, he's now in Death City. Back home, he was famous for going after criminals and giving them his own brand of justice, and that was by killing them. No one knows what he really looks like because he wears a mask and an outfit, and no one knows how to catch him. Not yet at least. He's never gone after regular, innocent people though, so there isn't too much to worry about. Still, he's dangerous, and he shouldn't be here. We can't let him stay loose for long.

...some people might think that he's not that bad of a problem because he goes after criminals, people who you think deserves this sort of thing, but that's not true. It's a lie. No matter who he goes after and why, he's killing people, and no matter what, that sort of thing can't be forgiven. You don't get any kind of justice with murder. It's not right!

[He doesn't realize the tightened hold he has on his mirror or the raised tone in his voice until he hears it slightly echo in the room he's in, and Kotetsu jolts slightly, surprised at his own outburst. Calming down, he rubs at the back of his neck and continues.]

Ah, so, if anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to ask me or my partner. --oh, my name's Kotetsu. My partner's Barnaby. We've dealt with this guy a lot longer than Death City has now so hopefully, we can help out in catching Lunatic and getting this all to stop as soon as possible, because trust me, he's not gonna stop for anything.

Yeah, that's what he calls himself. It's kind of fitting actually. He's... got problems, at least in my opinion.

As for attempts, we've tried just about everything. He's smart and quick and he knows what he's doing. Me and my partner even went up against him before but that... [Kotetsu grimaces.] It just turned out into a big failure on our part. Things should be different here because back in our world, people have abilities and powers, kind of like here in Death City. That's something Lunatic had, so here, he's just about powerless, except for the fact that he's still going around doing the same damn thing he did in our city.

[She comes on with a stern look, considering him very seriously but with an odd glint in her eye. It's appraising and calculating, but the rest of her expression doesn't reflect that.]

That's a fine and sharp accusation, but where is your proof that it happens to be this 'Lunatic' from your world? There are plenty of people from plenty of different worlds who could have individuals reacting in the same way. Perhaps in some cultures it's accepted.

[Kotetsu can't help but fight back a shudder as she looks at him that way, and it feels as if he's standing in front of Lloyds, ready to get chewed out at any moment. Ugh, Kerrigan, be a normal not-intimidating person for once.]

M-my proof is in the weapon, mostly. They mentioned he had a crossbow. It's the same thing that Lunatic uses. Then someone mentioned he had a blue costume, and that fits him too. The victims he chose here are exactly the kind of people he'd go after in our city. So, all of that is how me and Bunny figured that it had to be him.

[His deep voice is set in concern, but also with a rigid air about it. He doesn't like the sound of this message.]

No one has mentioned this 'Lunatic' in any conversations. He's obviously from Sternbild if you mention him, but why has no one in the Hero rings caught him yet?

What are we looking for in regards to this man?

[All of a sudden a weird rush of something goes through Kotetsu, something like adrenaline but also of anxiety, and it's most likely because of the fact that he's discussing such an important thing with Legend of all people. ...okay, okay Kotestu, calm down. Just tell him all the information you know, you can do this. Deep breaths.]

Lunatic's, a lot different from any other criminals anyone's faced before. He's tricky, and really smart. I mean, we've tried plenty of times, everyone has, but nothing we do ever seems to get us any closer to catching him... [It feels terribly humiliating to admit to his idol that as a hero, he's failed to capture a person as terrible as Lunatic, but as much as he hates saying it, it needs to be said.]

Uh, well, for starters, there's his name. Then he wears this weird sort of outfit, kind of like what the heroes wear but different. It's mostly gray with blue and green, with a big cape thing he can take off. And a mask, it's kind of like he's got this glove stretched out all over his face, with a big grin on it. He fights with a crossbow, and he has this thing about how he only fights for some voice. The voice of something called Thanatos.

Killing people? Almost every Weapon in this city and their Meister do the same thing on a near day-to-day basis. Does that mean that we also cannot be forgiven?

By your standards alone, this war is not right if murder is considered unjust in your opinion. Do you fight in this war, little parasite? If so, then you have no right to judge the actions of another who is taking care of those who strip the lives of innocents.

I-I haven't killed anyone here! Not like-- I haven't! It's different! They're nothing alike That's just, it's all a matter of circumstances! It's a war and I'm barely even a part of it, I'm just-- I'm just trying to help, and I'm trying to do everything I can to help, it's... it's not the same! What Lunatic does is nothing like what I want, and what you think I want out of all this isn't it at all!

[It's very obvious that Kotetsu has absolutely no idea how to respond to this, and the most he can really do is try to keep a stronghold of his morals and hope that this doesn't just turn into him rambling and raving like an idiot... which it will honestly turn into soon enough.]

[The video feed flickered on to show Yuri's frowning and displeased expression. To say that he's unhappy about the possibility of Lunatic being in the city is an understatement, and it's obvious to anyone looking at him that he isn't happy.]

Do you have proof with your accusations, Mr. Kaburagi? For if this isn't the criminal, Lunatic, we could be taking the investigation in an entirely different direction and allowing the true killer to escape prosecution.

[Wow, with how frustrated he looks, Kotetsu almost feels as if he's done something wrong with announcing what he did. Or that he broke something again.]

...ah, I didn't think about that.

[Wait, that was a bad thing to say.] I-I mean, Bunny and I are almost positive on it! It has to be him! The crossbow thing just about screams that it's him! I mean, the motive and the thing about his outfit, who else could it be?

[When she listens to the announcement over the communicator, her hands reach to cover her mouth in surprise. Out of everybody who could have been brought to her world it had to be him. Well it could have been worse, but thankfully the worse case scenario in her head involved a dead guy.

Knowing her dad is at home, she drops in from being cooped up in her room. She hadn't bothered to attend school yet since she still treated this place like an extended holiday.]

Dad you're going to catch Lunatic... right? [She had doubts, since he managed to remain at large for months back at home.]

[Whether he had expected the sort of quick response that he received from his announcement on Lunatic, Kotetsu had no idea, and it just about left him reeling on what exactly to explain further. He'd managed to catch a break in-between most of the questions but was preparing himself for more eventually, having taken an exhausted seat on the couch in the living room.

As Kaede's voice reached his ears, Kotetsu sat up straight in his seat, eyes darting over to her, a strained smile on his face.]

I'm gonna try. Bunny and I have to. We can't let him hurt people here like he did in Sternbild.

[ Color someone at least interested. This may or may not be a lead, really, but anything is better than nothing, and if there is the possibility of a trail to follow, she might as well at least have her finger on one point in the line, even if it's very preliminary. ]

Do you have any evidence to back this up? It's best not to start distracting goose chases that may distract from an actual criminal.

[All these people shouting things (except it's not shouting, but it's equally as troublesome to hear on repeat) about evidence was really starting to get on Kotetsu's nerves, even though everything they said was true. One needed solid evidence in order to properly shoot off accusations on killers. That was the smart thing to do. Which was exactly why Kotetsu wasn't doing that.]

The only evidence we've got is the weapon he uses, the people he chooses to go after and that witness statement on his outfit.

[Barnaby had his mirror off, just listening as Kotetsu made the network warning. Sitting across from him in the chair, he just reread the case files, then set them down on the dining room table.]

I still don't understand why they brought him here.

[All the while, Kotetsu paced back and forth in the living room, his temper and patience with taking on questions something like a roller coaster ride, continuous ups and downs that he couldn't stand. Once he got a break from the responses, he looked over at Barnaby and frowned.]

Because BREW's a piece of garbage, that's why.

Somehow I doubt there's many of those within the people that were brought here.

First, that's pessimistic, and second, you're not helping. There are plenty of bad and good people here and anywhere else, that's how things are. I know 'innocent' might be a stretch in your standards but that's my stance on it.

[Boom, big lead after ages of nothing! Edgeworth doesn't begin the transmission until he's done reading and making his own notes, and reviewing everyone's replies. The ones he can see, anyway.

So, Kotetsu arrived at the conclusion that the Crim Cutter was this so-called "Lunatic" because of the crossbow, the blue costume, and the choice of victims. Put together, all three aspects could not be mere coincidence. But first, know thine enemy.

When the feed starts, Edgeworth is holding an organizer in one hand, and a pen in the other, his expression very serious. It's time to get down to business.]

Mr. Kotetsu, can you tell me more about your past encounters with this..."Lunatic"?

I am Miles Edgeworth, one of the heads of the Agency, and we are working to put a stop to these killings once and for all.

[He means it. And he agrees that this is not the way to dispense justice.]

[Oh jeez, finally someone that isn't willing to just throw doubts and dubious questions at him. This is something Kotetsu would much rather deal with. He nods assuredly, and though he knows he'll probably have to gloss over or alter some details just to protect his identity as a hero, he's pretty sure he can explain enough for this whole investigation to be more useful to others.]

Thanks, I really appreciate it. Believe me when I say that I want him caught just as badly as you do. He's been in our city for more than a year now, which says a lot about how hard it is to catch him. Things sort of slowed down a lot in the past few months while I was back home but he's still out there, and so he still needs to be caught.

For starters, you've got no luck in trying to reason with him. He's got this twisted idea of justice that he works under, thinking that if he goes after criminals then he's doing the right thing. If you've done something wrong in his book, you're his target, and there's nothing you can do about it. [For a brief moment, Kotetsu recalls the last encounter he had with Lunatic in which he... technically saved Kotetsu's life, but he's still as confused about that whole thing as when it first happened a year ago for him, so he doesn't bother with mentioning it.] He's a true vigilante, and he won't stop for any reason. Not without force.

Pretty sure, or as sure as I'll ever be. I mean, on one hand if it is him then it'll be easier to find him, but on the other... I kinda almost don't want it to be Lunatic. He's caused a lot of trouble where I'm from and we haven't even been able to catch him there. I've got no idea how we're gonna be able to do it here.

I mean, we'll try, but it's gonna be tricky.

Does he have a weapon or M.O. he prefers? Do you know how he chooses his victims? Has anyone asked the authorities to keep details about suspects away from the public?

The only weapon he uses is a crossbow, and a lot of his victims are sometimes found with really severe burns. That's because of these powers he has. --uh, my world has people called NEXTs, which are basically regular people but with powers. Lunatic was one. He only goes after criminals, people he thinks have done something wrong according to the law, or more specifically, laws he goes by.

I'm not sure how all the details are being handled here by the authorities but back home, we didn't keep much of it under wraps. Just about everything that went down, the public heard about.

Kotetsu has no idea why you would even announce that sort of thing without any prompting (especially when he's basically just said that there's a mad man going out there and attacking people with criminal records), and it really does bring a whole slew of questions to his mind but, can he even ask what he's done?

Swallowing hard, Kotetsu seems to have a difficult time speaking up for a few seconds before he replies.]

Y-you... really shouldn't have to worry that much...? I'll, hope not. I really don't want this going on longer than it already has. And, considering the fact that I know Lunatic only goes after criminals, I really don't see him changing that up to just go after anyone.

[But if he does, oh boy will there be hell to pay.]

[Oh, this girl. Kotetsu's heard of her before and he thinks he might recall Kaede mentioning her once or twice, he can hardly remember. He certainly wouldn't mind the extra help, and though the little comment about the "shot at the back" is a little concerning, he assumes it's just meant as a joke (as much as he can't stand what Lunatic does, he just plainly never wants people to die as a punishment for anything. Death is... not the easiest thing that he can handle).

Anyway, it's kinda hard to describe Lunatic right off the bat but he's pretty easy to notice when you see him, since he wears an outfit and a mask all the time. I've talked to him plenty of times and told him that what he's doing is wrong but he just never listens. He has this thing about thinking these criminals need to be given the "right" kind of justice that doesn't involve just catching them and putting them in jail. He doesn't see them as criminals or even people, he just sees them as nuisances to the public, which they... sort of are --but that doesn't mean they should be killed!
