Recent conversations have sparked some curiosity in me.

We all come from different worlds and different times, and I can't help but wonder what some of the common myths, legends, and fairy tales are in these times and places. Such things can be very telling of the people from which they come and I think I might enjoy making a collection of sorts and analyzing them.

So, Death City, if you would be so kind tell me about your worlds and the stories you've been raised on. The more detail the better, and if you know anything of their origin that is better yet.

What conversation?

Conversations with Aqua and Saya. We talked a bit about our favorite fairy tales and myths, and Saya made the suggestion I write about the ones from Alternia. So I thought it could be fun to make a collection from all the different worlds represented here in Death City.

Fairy tales and myths vary so widely by region in my world that it's hard to say if any can be called representative.

There's a story about the city where I was born that says a dragon watches over it and protects it.

I'm beginning to learn the same can be said of this world--but given how divided it is, it is no surprise.

I'd like to hear more about it, if you know it all.

I can tell you the story of Soul Mates. It was told by Plato, a Greek philosopher that lived long ago.

[ because even if it doesn't explain it, it's related to human romance. Saya knows how different troll romance is. ]

Stories you've been raised on.. do you mean something like fairytales by that? I guess that's the kind of stuff every kid hears.

Fairy tales, myths--yes. That sort of thing.

I'm not good at stories, but I can tell you a bit about legends.

There's one, Finn MacCool. I'm not even joking, that's his name.

There was once a salmon that knew all of the world’s knowledge and Finn decided to eat the Salmon to gain the knowledge. As he was cooking the fish, juice squirted out and burned Finn’s thumb and the guy stuck his thumb in his mouth to stop the pain. Instantly, learned the knowledge the salmon carried.

From then on, anytime Finn sucked his thumb he gained whatever knowledge he was seeking.

A curious legend. What I might give to be able to produce knowledge so easily as that! Then again it would not be especially fun would it? Seeking it out and learning on your own can be quite the adventure.

I am from a place called Alternia. It is a home to trolls. I'm not certain where to begin in describing it. Is there something in particular you are interested in?

My world is similar to this, except that Meisters, Weapons, and the kishin do not exist.

Children are raised on very different stories, depending on their culture and upbringing. You might want to narrow your search further, Miss Disciple.
