perfectorder: (☠ to move on)

I would like to thank everyone for their efforts these past few days. For many this was their first time to truly test themselves in the face of a foreign adversity in an even far more foreign world. For some it was your first real chance to test your resonance with your partner. This was by no means an easy battle, but even so I observed that every single person here showed some level of bravery and courage. In fact I am greatly humbled to be in the presence of so many who were willing to fight and even give their lives to protect this city and the people who inhabit it.

As we say time and again, none of you have to participate. But time and again many of you voluntarily put yourselves in the face of danger. Words are simply not enough to express my gratitude, but I thank you all the same.

Due to everyone's efforts during the rescue mission, we were able to bring back those who were taken, destroy the Moral Manipulation Machine and the kishin eggs, and eliminated two of the five witches. Considering the complexity of this mission and the fact we were up against five witches, to accomplish this much was no easy feat. But we were able to accomplish what we set out to do and more, and so I can say with great certainty that this was a successful mission.

[expression hardens a bit.]

But unfortunately, as with any war there not everyone came out unscathed. Many were injured, some more than others. Some suffered a traumatic experience that no one should ever face. [his eyes narrow as he recalls what the victims were put through. it sickened him.] We were also too late to save some of the civilians, and a number of our own agents lost their lives during the attack and during the mission.

...And it is with great regret to announce that one of our guests also lost his life during the mission—Ryuuji Keikain. To those who knew him, you have my condolences.

We always strive to bring everyone back alive, especially the guests. Unlike our agents, none of you were really trained or prepared for these kinds of missions. However, he will always be remembered for his bravery and be placed among the other agents who had also given their lives.

[he takes a moment to let the news sink in, to give a moment of reflection, before he speaks again.]

We still need to be cautious as we are currently in a vulnerable state. To those who are able, just remain vigilant as we continue the repairs and clean up of the city. All who are injured should not force themselves and instead focus on healing and regathering their strength. If you have yet to go to the clinic, do so now. Otherwise, just rest. All of you have been through enough—there's no need to push it any farther.

[rest. that actually sounded nice. when was the last time he rested? had he even slept? he should take his own advice but there were still things he needed to do, matters to be seen and dealt with. sleep can come later.]

It will take time for the wounds of both the people and the city to mend, but as we've shown time and time again, we are resilient. I may be the current acting Shinigami, but what makes Death City is not its leader—it is the people. I can only hope that one day I will actually be worthy of truly being this city's leader and as a Shinigami. Thus it is an honor to be working and fighting alongside everyone.

[his voice softens a bit, with just a touch of a sadness.]

I am sure my father would be very proud of everyone, just as I am.

So once again, I thank you.

I'm afraid to report Brock has been missing for two days, perhaps longer. The state of our apartment indicates that he seems to be gone...whether or not he is permanently so, I don't know yet. I understand that these things are temporary sometimes, however - how long has the longest absence been from this city?

Seems it's still needed. Don't mind us.
